Thank you for your kind words.

It means a great deal to be recognised not only for the care I give to families, but also for supporting important work within the local community.

Care should be more than a promise.

When you choose a funeral director, you are placing a great deal of trust in them.

That trust should be supported by experience, proper standards, and a genuine commitment to caring for both the person who has died and the family around them.

For me, this is not just about arranging a service.

It is about being there calmly, clearly and consistently when people need guidance most.

If you are unsure what to ask or where to begin, I’m here to help.

For those who have served in the Armed Forces, emergency services, care roles or the local community, those parts of their life can mean a great deal to the people remembering them.

Sometimes it may be a small detail.

A flag. A reading. A route. A piece of music. A few words that recognise what they gave to others.

Those details deserve to be handled carefully.

If service was part of your loved one’s story, I can help you think through how to honour it in a way that feels right.

We are an Armed Forces Covenant Signatory and offer Blue Light, Carers and Armed Forces Discounts.

At a difficult time, clear information matters.

Families should be able to understand what is included, what choices are available, and where any additional costs may come from before making decisions.

I believe in explaining things properly, without pressure and without making the process feel more complicated than it needs to be.

Whether you are planning ahead or arranging a funeral now, I’m here to talk through the options clearly.

A direct cremation can be a simple choice, but it should still be handled with care, dignity and proper attention.

For some families, it may feel right to have no formal service at the crematorium and to remember someone later in a more personal way.

What matters is that you understand what is included, who is caring for your loved one, and whether the arrangements feel clear from the start.

If you would like to talk through direct cremation locally, I’m here to guide you.

After someone dies, there can be a lot to think about, often at a time when it is difficult to take everything in.

Cremation or burial. A church service or something smaller. Music, readings, flowers, notices, transport and all the practical details in between.

You do not need to have every answer straight away.

My role is to explain the options clearly, give you time where possible, and help you take the next step with confidence.

Exciting news!!! After 4.5 years of running around like a headless chicken between the Budleigh and Exmouth office let me introduce our new Funeral Administrator Sophie!!!
Sophie has been a close family friend for many years and when the time finally came that I realised I’m not superman and can’t do it alone, Sophie was the perfect choice to provide the personal attention that makes Otter Valley what it is. Sophie will float between the two offices as required and cover out of hours phones too 😊

We wholeheartedly support the governments decision to regulate the funeral profession.
We voluntarily open ourselves up to inspection from the National Association of Funeral Directors to demonstrate the standards to which we work to.
It is abhorrent that there is no legal requirement for us to do so when the care of people at their most vulnerable time is at stake. Our doors are always open should you have any questions. Simon

We welcome the announcement from Health Secretary Wes Streeting MP on plans to lead on the regulation of the funeral sector.

For families, this matters. Everyone deserves to know their loved one will be treated with dignity, respect and care and that those who fall short will be held to account.

For our profession, it’s equally important that any changes recognise the reality: the vast majority of funeral professionals uphold the highest standards every day, supporting people through their most difficult moments with compassion and integrity.

We will work with Government to help shape regulation that protects the public, while standing up for the professionalism and commitment of our members.

Dignity in death isn’t optional but the standard our profession is built on

A month into the new year so a little behind the curve but as we continue to push price transparency across our profession we offer these inclusive packages as well as our bespoke funeral service.
Visits to our chapel of rest are ALWAYS included as I don’t believe our care should change at the funeral home whether anyone is going to the service or not.
Trust your local, independent funeral director here in Exmouth.
