MARTIN WILLIAM SPOUSE (AGED 83)
(Eyemouth)

It is with profound sadness that the family announce the passing of Martin William Spouse, aged 83, who passed away peacefully on 27th July at the Margaret Kerr Unit, Borders General Hospital.
A devoted and loving husband to June, cherished father of David and partner Derna, and Trevor and partner Sharon, and a proud and much-loved grandfather to Kai, Tyla, Keil and Leoke.
Martin dedicated his life to the fishing industry and was known and respected not only in Eyemouth, but across many fishing communities. The sea was in his blood, and throughout his life he embodied the resilience, hard work and camaraderie for which fishermen are renowned. His kindness, wisdom, quiet strength and sense of humour touched the lives of so many.
He leaves behind a family who adored him and friends who valued him dearly. The memories he created, the stories he shared and the love he gave will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A funeral service will take place at Houndwood Crematorium, Houndwood, TD14 5TP, on Thursday 6th August 2026 at 1:30pm, where family and friends are warmly invited to come together to celebrate Martin's life and pay their final respects.
Family flowers only, please. Donations in Martin's memory will be in aid of the Margaret Kerr Unit and The Fishermen's Mission.
Details of a gathering to celebrate Martin's life, share memories and stories, and remember the special man he was, will be announced in due course.
Loved beyond words, missed beyond measure, and forever in our hearts.
