Today is International Nurses Day, and at Churcher and Tribbeck we want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude to the nursing community.

While our work begins when a life has sadly reached its journey's end, we are often witnesses to the incredible, selfless care nurses provide in the days, months, and years prior.

We hear their impact in the stories families tell us, of the nurse who stayed late to hold a hand, the one who explained a difficult diagnosis with grace, and the many who provided comfort when it was needed most not just to the patient but to the families aswell.

We see you and we thank you!! 💛

Mother’s Day is traditionally a day of celebration. A time to show our love and gratitude for the incredible women in our lives.
It can be a day of bright flowers, shared laughter, and happy memories.

But we also know that for many, this day is tinged with a different set of emotions.

If you are navigating this day without your mother, or a mother figure who shaped your world, today can bring a unique sense of loss and longing.

We understand. At Churcher and Tribbeck we witness the legacy of mothers every day. We know that while life goes on, their absence is deeply felt.

• To those celebrating: Cherish every moment and every story.

• To those grieving: We see you. Your feelings are valid, and it is okay to sit with a mix of both joy and sadness today.

Let’s use today to celebrate motherhood in all its forms. The biological mothers, the grandmothers, the stepmothers, and all the women who stepped in when we needed them most.

However you choose to spend this day, may it be one of peace and reflection.

As we approach the end of 2025, we recognise that the New Year can bring a wide range of emotions.

While it is often a time for celebration, it can also be a meaningful moment for reflection and for remembering those who are no longer with us.

Our thoughts are with all the families we have served throughout the past year, and with everyone in our community who begin this new chapter carrying a loved one in their heart. 🕯️

From all of us at Churcher & Tribbeck, we wish you peace, comfort, and hope as the New Year unfolds.

🙏🏼 it's always appreciated when other motorists show a funeral cortege a moment of respect.

This morning, NAFD CEO Andrew Judd appeared on BBC Breakfast TV to discuss drivers cutting into funeral cortèges.

Andrew explained that while funerals have changed over 120 years, respect and dignity for the deceased never age. He reminded viewers that a cortège marks the final journey a person will ever take, and urged drivers to take a few moments to show empathy for grieving families.

He welcomed the chance to work with the Department for Transport so learner drivers understand why a procession moves slowly and that slowing down out of safety and respect, makes a real difference.

Andrew also noted that many motorists don’t realise they’re cutting into a cortège, and that plumes or flags, supplied by NAFD members, help identify these as special vehicles with a special purpose.

In Flanders Field by John McCrae

An accomplished poet, McCrae’s most famous work, In Flanders Field, was published in May 1915 and is written from the perspective of fallen soldiers lying in their graves.

Legend has it, fellow soldiers retrieved the poem after McCrae himself was dissatisfied with it – it is now one of the most quoted poems to have been written in wartime.

If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
