Crazy Hair Day is taking place next week at Ashton Manor, and we can’t wait to see everyone’s wacky and creative hairstyles.

Join us next Tuesday 25th August for Crazy Hair Day, and feel free to join in and show off your own fabulously funky hairdo.

Whether it’s crazy colours, wild styles or out-there hair accessories, our residents and staff will be showing off their own extraordinary and creative dos in celebration of Crazy Hair Day.

This is going to be such a fun-filled day at the home, and a great way to get creative and have fun with hair. We can’t wait to see you there!

Did you enjoy watching the solar eclipse last night? Our staff caught some great shots of the eclipse over Wrecclesham. 🌙

It was very fun to witness such a special event, and we made sure our staff and residents observed the magical moment safely, following all the necessary precautions.

It is lovely to see an event like this bring people together, and it had us all reflecting on where we were during the last eclipse.

Let’s celebrate one of our residents’ favourite pastimes and pop the kettle on for Afternoon Tea Week! 🫖

☕️ We love to host an afternoon tea at our Beritaz Care homes. Whether it’s in celebration of a special occasion, or simply a great excuse for a get-together on a quiet afternoon, an afternoon tea is one of our residents’ favourite ways to socialise. Within our homes, we aim to create a feeling of companionship and community, and through social events like an afternoon tea, we can help our residents to get to know each other, find common interests, and feel more comfortable and content within our homes.

🥳 During this glorious summer weather, we have hosted several outdoor afternoon teas and garden parties, bringing together our residents, their family members, and friends of the homes for some delicious refreshments prepared by our brilliant kitchen teams. It has been the perfect way to celebrate the summer season with our home’s communities.

👩🏻‍🍳 Some of our residents have even lent a hand in baking up some delicious treats for our afternoon teas. Members of the Robertson Nursing Home cooking club have made some wonderful cakes and bakes for their fellow residents to enjoy with their afternoon tea. They enjoy both the process of baking the sweet treats and having a good chat while they taste the end result.

🚌 Our residents also love taking a trip on our minibus to visit a local café to enjoy their afternoon tea. There are some wonderful small businesses and landmarks near our homes, and we always enjoy taking our residents to explore all of the lovely places in the local area.

Whether they are enjoying a full afternoon tea spread, complete with cakes, scones, sandwiches, and freshly brewed tea, or a simple cup of tea with a slice of cake, an afternoon tea is one of our residents’ favourite occasions.

We were proud to recognise and show our appreciation for members of our Aston Manor team who deserve a big cheer for their hard work! 👏

Recently, several of our team members have successfully completed their independent studies and achieved qualifications. Vishnu and Binam have achieved their level 2 qualifications in Health and Social Care, and Priscila has achieved her level 3 qualification in Business Administration. We were delighted to present them with their certificates. We know how much work they have put into their studies and think they should be very proud of their achievements.

We also wanted to shine a light on some members of the team who have gone above and beyond in their roles. Recognition awards were presented to Kaisha and Pabina for their dedication, positivity, innovation, and commitment to the home. Their hard work and compassion are fantastic examples of how our team uphold the Beritaz Care core values every single day.

We are incredibly grateful to have a team of staff who are committed to care and to the wellbeing of our residents, both through the dedication they put into their daily tasks and their commitment to furthering their skills to provide quality care to our residents.

We are so proud of our Ashton Manor walking team: Priscila, Susan, Lubi, Atish, and BG 🥾, who completed the North Downs 25km challenge last weekend in aid of Dementia UK . 👏

The team took to the hills last Saturday to complete their 25km walk in the sunshine and heat of the British summer. But our wonderful staff members were smiling throughout as the sun beat down, and they completed the challenge against the beautiful backdrop of the Surrey hills.

This is the second challenge members of the Ashton Manor team have taken on this year, all for great causes that impact our residents and their loved ones. For this challenge, the team were fundraising for Dementia UK, which provides vital specialist care to individuals and families impacted by dementia, a cause very close to our hearts.

We were delighted to see the team cross the finish line this weekend, still with smiles on their faces. 😀 All their training and preparation was worth it, and they have been able to raise a total of £330 so far for Dementia UK.

Today is International Friendship Day 💕 so we are celebrating the beautiful friendships we have seen flourish between our residents.

Friendship is so important, and nowhere more so than within our homes and the community we have built at Beritaz Care. One of the things many of our residents are looking for when they move into our homes is companionship, some having struggled with loneliness or meeting people, so having the chance to form friendships within the home is something that makes a big difference to their lives.

Our regular social events and celebrations give our residents plenty of opportunities to get to know each other and make new friends. Our resident clubs are a particularly great way to meet people with shared interests; our homes host a variety of clubs from poetry clubs to cooking clubs, and even a men’s club at Robertson Nursing Home. These are a great way to bring together people with similar interests to share their favourite hobbies together and discover things they have in common.

Our residents have also formed some surprising friendships within the wider community. Through relationships with local schools and colleges and working with the Adopt-a-Grandparent scheme, we have seen our residents gain a great deal from intergenerational friendships.

We have also been moved to see the friendships that develop between residents and staff. The team members in our homes truly care about every resident and, through getting to know them, often form close bonds which give our residents a great sense of comfort, knowing they are being cared for by someone they trust.

Within our homes, we have been privileged to see so many amazing friendships form. Watching people from different places, generations, cultures, and backgrounds share their experiences and form connections that have had such a positive impact on their lives. Today we are celebrating all friendships, however they look, that bring happiness and connection to our residents and our homes.

This weekend, our brilliant Ashton Manor walking team will be taking on the North Downs 25km challenge to raise funds for Dementia UK. 👏

Our team members are taking on their second challenge of the year, this time in support of Dementia UK. This is a wonderful organisation which is very close to the hearts of everyone at the home, as they work to provide help and hope for those living with dementia

This Saturday 1st August, Priscila, Susan, Lubi, Atish, and BG will join their fellow challengers to take on this 25km walk against the backdrop of the Surrey hills. 🥾

After the great success of our team at the Alzheimer’s Society trek challenge across London earlier in the year, they have dusted off their walking boots once again to support another worthy cause. We are so proud of the team for their commitment and dedication to do their part in helping Dementia UK provide vital specialist care to individuals and families impacted by dementia.

With all the lovely weather we have been having recently, the garden at Ashton Manor has been truly thriving. 🪴 And our residents have been putting their green fingers to good use, making sure the plants are well looked after.

Our vegetable patch is really coming along; the seedlings that the residents potted up were moved outside and have grown into strong, healthy plants. We are even starting to spot the first fruits and vegetables appearing, which should be ready to harvest and enjoy very soon.

Our volunteer gardeners have done a fantastic job taking responsibility for tending to the garden (with a bit of help from our staff members), watering, feeding, and pruning the plants. They have really enjoyed seeing their hard work pay off, as we fill the home with fresh-cut flowers and excitedly wait to taste the first of our home-grown produce.

Gardening has been a great activity to help our residents keep active and enjoy some fresh air, while dedicating some time to a favourite hobby that they are delighted to be able to continue. 🧑🏻‍🌾
