"I have been with Farsley Dental practice for many years, and never had any complaints. My most recent visit was yesterday. I had had an old filling break off the evening before leaving a sharp edge which was very uncomfortable. I phoned yesterday morning not expecting to be seen the same day, but was given an appointment for 11am. All the staff are lovely and I was put at ease immediately. My dentist explained my options, left it to me to choose, and I was given the chosen treatment straight away. Would recommend this practice to others, and I would not go to any other Dentist."

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.

Your kind words and continued trust in Farsley Dental mean so much to our entire team. Thank you for your recommendation – it's the greatest compliment we could receive.

Not necessarily!

Wisdom teeth only need to be removed if they're causing problems or are likely to affect your oral health. In many cases, they can remain in place without causing any issues.

Your dentist may recommend removing a wisdom tooth if it:
🦷 Is causing pain or swelling
🦷 Keeps getting infected
🦷 Is trapped beneath the gum (impacted)
🦷 Is damaging a neighbouring tooth
🦷 Is difficult to keep clean, increasing the risk of decay or gum disease

If you're experiencing discomfort at the back of your mouth, don't ignore it. A dental examination can help identify the cause and determine the most appropriate treatment for you.

If you have any concerns about your wisdom teeth, get in touch with our friendly team – we're here to help.

There's no right or wrong answer – both are fantastic tools for cleaning between your teeth and helping to keep your gums healthy.

A water flosser is ideal if you have braces, implants or sensitive gums, while traditional floss is great for removing plaque and food debris from those hard-to-reach spaces.

The most important thing? Making interdental cleaning part of your daily routine. Your teeth and gums will thank you!

If you hear your dentist or hygienist calling out numbers such as "2...3...2...4...", they're recording measurements of your gum health.

Using a small measuring probe, we check the space between your teeth and gums, known as the gum pocket. These measurements help us monitor your gum health over time and identify any changes.

In general:
✔️ 1–3mm is usually considered within the healthy range.
✔️ Higher measurements may indicate that further assessment or treatment is needed.

Recording these measurements at regular check-ups helps us build a picture of your oral health and recommend the most appropriate care for you.

Did you know what those numbers meant before today?

Whether they play rugby, hockey, martial arts or another contact sport, a well-fitting mouthguard can help reduce the risk of injury to the teeth and mouth.

A custom-made mouthguard is designed specifically for your child's teeth, providing a secure and comfortable fit throughout the season.

This patient attended Farsley Dental concerned about worn teeth and discoloured fillings affecting the appearance of their smile.

Treatment began with a course of tooth whitening to brighten the natural teeth. The six upper front teeth were then restored in a single appointment using composite veneers. Aside from removing the existing stained fillings, no drilling or preparation of the underlying teeth was required.

The lower front fillings were also replaced with new tooth-coloured composite restorations to complete the treatment.

Composite bonding and composite veneers can be a minimally invasive option for suitable patients. Following a consultation, we'll discuss your concerns and the treatment options available to help you make an informed decision.

If you'd like to find out more about composite bonding or other cosmetic dental treatments, get in touch with the team at Farsley Dental to arrange a consultation.

Results will vary from person to person. A full assessment is required to determine the most appropriate treatment for your individual needs.

Vicky has been helping our patients care for their smiles since joining Farsley Dental in 2000, after qualifying as a Dental Hygienist at the Eastman Dental Hospital in 1994.

For Vicky, looking after your oral health is about much more than teeth - it's about helping people feel comfortable and confident every time they visit us. She's also studied Clinical Hypnotherapy, allowing her to offer additional support to patients who experience dental anxiety.

When she's not at the practice, you'll usually find her out in the countryside walking her three dogs or competing in dressage with her horse!

We're lucky to have Vicky as part of the Farsley Dental team!

At Farsley Dental, we use ClinCheck® digital treatment planning to map out your Invisalign® journey before treatment even begins.

Using advanced 3D technology, ClinCheck creates a personalised simulation of your planned tooth movements, allowing you and your dentist to discuss your treatment goals, understand each stage of the process and see a visual representation of the proposed outcome before your first aligner is fitted.

It's a valuable planning tool that supports informed decision-making and helps ensure your treatment is tailored to your individual needs.

If you're considering teeth straightening, book a consultation with our team to find out whether Invisalign® could be a suitable option for you.

A little planning before you travel can make all the difference if you experience a dental problem while you're away.

🦷 If you're due a dental check-up, try to book it before you go.
🧳 Pack any retainers, mouthguards or aligners in a protective case.
🌍 Check whether your travel insurance includes emergency dental treatment.
📱 Save your dentist's contact details in your phone, just in case.

If you do need to see a dentist while you're away, keep any treatment notes, X-rays and receipts. They can be useful for follow-up care when you return home and may be needed if you're making an insurance claim.

And if something doesn't feel quite right when you're back, don't ignore it. Book an appointment with our team so we can assess the problem and recommend any further treatment if needed.

A few minutes of preparation now could help you spend more time enjoying your holiday later.

The summer holidays can be an ideal time to book your child's dental check-up. With no school runs, packed lunches or after-school clubs to juggle, it's often easier to find an appointment that works for the whole family.

Regular dental visits help us keep an eye on growing smiles, spot any potential problems early, and help children build confidence when visiting the dentist.

Our advice? Don't wait until the holidays have started to book. Summer appointments are always popular, and planning ahead means one less thing to think about when the break arrives.

📞 Get in touch today to arrange your child's next check-up.
