Postnatal care, or the lack of it, is a big topic in the news right now. I thought it appropriate to highlight some of my skills that can help you recover and optimise on your postnatal / mum journey. You Matter 💕
The body does amazing things to grow a baby. Huge adaptations take place to create space for our baby to grow and develop. Our body’s change and we adapt accordingly. Our babies are then born and our body is still adapting, changing and developing in so many different ways.
⭐️ Aches and pains are common but not something we should put up with
⭐️Tummy growth and gaps are normal and everyone experiences it from 36 weeks pregnant, these should slowly return to level in the first few months post birth but some don’t and require treatment to help this recovery
⭐️ C-section scars should be smooth, painless, level with your body (not raised) and light in colour after a few months of healing. Some require treatment to get to this point.
⭐️ Tummy, abdomen, hips and pelvis area should not feel sore on movement or when you return to exercise, this can be down to many factors and a c-section scar or pelvic floor issues can contribute to this. Again there is so much that can be done for this.
⭐️ Pelvic floor weakness, frequency, urgency, constipation, lack of control are all common but not normal post birth. There are treatments that can help you
⭐️ Doing exercise but you still have an overhang post c-section? Or your diastasis isn’t improving. Tailored specialist treatment can help
There are so many things that are covered in a Mummy MOT / Postnatal Physio Assessment and I get a lot of mums coming in that didn’t realise there were things they could do to improve their symptoms or concerns.
You deserve to know what’s out there to help you as you shouldn’t have to put up with symptoms ‘because you’ve had a baby’
I’ll be re-introducing myself with a summary of my background and clinical skills in the next few days to give you a little more insight but I hope that helps 💕
