Whenever you do something you’ve never done before, especially when you’re meeting a group of people for the first time, it always feels a little awkward. And if I’m honest, this is definitely not something Paul would’ve ever chosen for himself!
But as soon as we set off on the 8K trail run, we found our rhythm. Running across the North Downs meant hills, but the views at the top made the climb worth it.
Our finish line was Denbies, where we were greeted with delicious pizza and a glass of sparkling wine. We also got to hear more about Katie and the story behind Run to Wine. By then, everyone had shared the same run, so it was easy to strike up conversations—we all had something in common.
I joked that we were probably a generation older than most of the group, but it actually made me think. As we get older, it’s easy to convince ourselves that certain experiences aren’t really “for us.” And sometimes that’s the only thing holding us back.
After pizza, we headed into a wine tasting with Jeremy at Denbies, where we sampled five fantastic wines. The pours were very generous so by the last glass everyone was having a lovely old time 🥂
A huge thank you to Katie for such a brilliant event. If you love running, wine, or simply trying something a little different, I’d absolutely recommend it. Whatever generation you’re from, this one ticks all the boxes.
