We were delighted to welcome Mandy from Ferndown Community Support and her granddaughter, Issy, for a special intergenerational craft session.

Residents enjoyed getting creative alongside Issy, while chatting and learning more about her life. Her incredibly realistic reborn baby was a particular talking point, attracting plenty of interest and conversation!

School days also became a topic of discussion, prompting residents to share memories from their own childhoods. During the craft, residents personalised their creations with Scrabble letters, while Issy chose an “I” for herself and an “M” for Monica, saying she wanted to remember her name. ❤️

A lovely session bringing generations together through creativity, conversation and shared memories.

Claire's Curiosity Cart visited Amberwood House for a fascinating afternoon exploring the history of cameras and photography.

Residents got to see a wonderful selection of cameras, from Brownies and Polaroids to modern digital models, alongside slides, negatives and light boxes.

The familiar orange Kodak film canister was instantly recognised, prompting plenty of memories of taking rolls of film to the local shop and waiting eagerly for the photographs to be developed.

A lovely afternoon of discovery, conversation and nostalgia – proving that sometimes the simplest objects can bring back the best memories. 📸

🧤🌿 Gloves on, litter pickers ready and team spirit in full swing!

Colleagues from Amberwood House and Fernhill joined together for a community litter pick around Ferndown.

A huge thank you to everyone who got involved, including Colten Care's Bournemouth and Poole Operations Manager Anna, Fernhill Home Manager Lorraine, Customer Support Advisor Lara, and to Ferndown Community Support for their support 🙌

A wonderful day on the water! ⛵💙

Residents at Amberwood House enjoyed a relaxing two-hour cruise around Poole Harbour aboard the Friends of the Dolphin boat.

Joan was amazed by the beautiful scenery, saying she couldn't believe somewhere so stunning was right on her doorstep, while Shirley loved feeling the wind in her hair as they cruised along.

A lovely day filled with fresh sea air, beautiful views and happy memories.

We brought the seaside to Amberwood House as we celebrated National Ice Cream Day with a day full of traditional seaside fun!

Residents enjoyed racing remote-control cars, trying their luck at hook-a-duck and, of course, tucking into delicious ice creams from Mikey's Ices – with plenty of 99 Flakes proving a popular choice 😋🎯🚗

Our team also joined in the celebrations with an ice cream of their own as part of our staff wellbeing, making it a day everyone could enjoy together ☀️💙

We recently celebrated an incredible milestone as our wonderful resident, Margery, marked her 104th birthday! 🎂💙

To make the occasion extra special, Margery enjoyed a magical afternoon with a surprise performance from Andy the Magician, featuring mind-reading, card tricks and plenty of laughter. As someone who loves a practical joke herself, it was the perfect way to celebrate! 🎩🎉

Having now celebrated her 100th, 101st, 102nd, 103rd and 104th birthdays with us, Margery continues to bring so much warmth, humour and joy to life at Amberwood House.

Happy birthday once again, Margery! 🥳❤️

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate 20 wonderful years of Amberwood House this past weekend 💙

It was a fantastic afternoon filled with sunshine, laughter and bubbles as residents, families, friends, team members and our local community came together to mark this special milestone.

Your generosity also helped us raise around £500 for our Charity of the Year, Ferndown Community Support.

Thank you to everyone who celebrated with us and helped make our 20th anniversary such a memorable occasion. Here's to many more happy years at Amberwood House! 🥂✨

Residents at Amberwood House spent time preparing doggy bags for Ferndown Community Support’s pet food bank 🐶

Filled with food, treats, dental sticks and toys, the bags were assembled with care — and plenty of laughter as Dot, Margery and Shirley tested every squeaky toy first! Monica kept everything organised with carefully made labels.
