Last Saturday, the 6th of June, I presented a talk for the Paphos Third Age in Cyprus. I discussed how I cope in everyday life as a blind person and some of the aids I use to assist me.
As the first blind person in England to qualify as a music therapist, I explained how I overcame some of the visual challenges in relation to the job, as well as how music therapy can support and help a wide range of people with different disabilities and illnesses.
A few days after the talk, Alan Nicholls, the group leader of the Saturday talks at Paphos Third Age, wrote this testimonial which I’d like to share with you:
„I am delighted to provide this testimonial for Carl Morgan, an exceptional presenter, musician, and advocate whose dedication to supporting blind people and individuals with other disabilities has transformed countless lives.
Despite being blind himself, Carl has achieved a Master's Degree in Music Therapy and has devoted his life to using his talents and experiences to empower others. His achievements are a testament to his determination, resilience, and unwavering commitment to inclusion.
Through the universal language of music, Carl has created meaningful connections with people who face learning difficulties and communication challenges. He has an extraordinary ability to help individuals express emotions and experiences that they may otherwise struggle to share. His work has been particularly impactful in supporting those who have experienced bullying, misunderstanding, and social exclusion due to their disabilities or differences.
As a presenter, Carl combines professional expertise with genuine empathy, inspiring audiences through his personal journey and his message of acceptance, understanding, and perseverance. His presentations not only educate but also encourage greater awareness of the challenges faced by people with disabilities, while highlighting the importance of compassion and inclusion.
Carl is an outstanding role model whose work continues to make a profound difference in the lives of many. I wholeheartedly recommend him as a presenter, educator, and advocate who brings knowledge, inspiration, and hope to every audience he engages.”
