🤍 A privilege to return… 🤍
This week, I had the privilege of returning to a family I have previously had the honour of supporting, this time to officiate the interment of their loved one’s ashes.
There is something particularly meaningful about being invited back.
Having shared their journey at the funeral, to then stand alongside them again as they bring their loved one to their final resting place is a quiet reminder of the trust that families place in me during some of the most important and difficult moments of their lives.
An interment can be a much more intimate occasion. There is time to pause, to reflect, to remember, and to simply be together and although the ceremony may be quieter, the love is no less present.
For this family, it was another opportunity to remember a life filled with love, family, friendship, resilience and so many precious memories.
I was also incredibly touched to receive a beautiful card and a thoughtful gift of biscuits from the family afterwards. These gestures are never expected, but they genuinely mean so much. ❤️
Being a funeral celebrant is about far more than standing at the front and delivering words. It is about being trusted with someone's story, about listening and understanding what matters to a family and sometimes, it is about being invited back to walk alongside them once more.
I feel very fortunate to do what I do, and I never take that trust for granted.
