I loved a drink š·
But I got sick of how alcohol made me feel and behave.
I knew the pattern.āØI knew it wasnāt making me happy.āØSo why was it so hard to change?
I thought I needed more willpower.
What I eventually realised was that I needed to understand what alcohol was doing for me.
What was I looking for when I reached for that glass of wine?
What was I trying not to feel?
What did drinking allow me to feel that I struggled to access without it?
Because for me, drinking wasnāt just about drinking. It was part of a much bigger cycle.
But not anymoreā¦itās been over 5 years since I last had a drink š
And one of the things I absolutely LOVE is that I can take my kids to see live music and enjoy the whole thing completely alcohol free.
I can dance with them (even if they cringe)
Laugh with them.
Stay up late.
Be silly.
And be completely present for all of it.
I donāt feel like Iām missing out.
I donāt feel deprived.
Iām not spending the evening thinking about when I can have a drink.
Iām free to actually be there.
And I donāt think the old me would ever have believed that was possible.
Thatās what breaking a cycle has given me.
Lasting change is not simply about knowing that something isnāt good for us and trying harder to stop.
Sometimes we need to understand why we keep going back to it in the first place.Ā
But there is a difference between understanding something in your head and understanding the pattern in your body.
Thatās where we can start to do something differently.
Thatās the idea behind the Break the Cycle sessions Iāve opened up š
It doesnāt have to be alcohol.
It might be overworking.
People pleasing.
Never allowing yourself to rest.
A relationship pattern.
Overthinking everything.
Constantly needing to be in control.
Or something else you keep doing even though you KNOW it isnāt helping.
Bring me the pattern.
Weāll get curious about it together.
