Fiona Reilly - Reflexology and Doula Services Reflexology, Maternity Reflexology, Birth Exploration and Companionship, Baby Massage, doula, doula training

Welcome to my page, my name is Fiona Reilly. I have been a practitioner of complimentary therapies for over 12 years, during this time I have had the pleasure to work with many varied clients. I believe that the body has a wonderful innate ability to heal itself, though with our busy modern lives the body can become out of balance due to stress, pain or illness. We frequently do not give

our bodies the time and opportunity to heal, however help is available. Reflexology is a gentle therapy that encourages the body to naturally restore its own healthy balance. Reflexology

Reflexology gently treats and heals the whole body through compression massage of the feet or hands. Reflex points on the feet and hands are linked to various parts of the body by meridians (a type of energy line). Reflexology helps to release blockages, tension and congestion in these pathways increasing physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. Reflexology can help with a variety of life’s challenges and health issues, while regular reflexology sessions can help boost the immune system preventing illness and increasing energy and vitality. People find it helps to induce deep relaxation and relieve stress. Reflexology can assist in the following ways:

• Create a sense of wellbeing and relaxation
• Increase energy and vitality, beneficial for CFS and ME
• Clear the mind and relieve stress
• Encourage system to rebalance and heal itself
• Relieve muscle pain, tension and sport injuries
• Relieve headaches and other aches and pains
• Alleviate arthritis pain
• Balance menstrual/menopausal and hormonal issues
• Promote efficient digestion and ease IBS
• Stimulate circulation and respiration efficiency
• Relieve sinus congestion, asthma and effects of allergies
• Remove toxins

Reflexology is an excellent, gentle therapy with many possible benefits.

“Each day comes bringing its own gifts, untie the ribbons!”

Maternity reflexology

Maternity reflexology is a specialised form of reflexology to help support the parents and baby from preconception to after birth. It is a very safe, gentle and non-invasive therapy though is not recommended during the first 3 months of pregnancy. Reflexology can help to prepare the parents for pregnancy, by increasing fertility and s***m production and regulating the menstrual cycle. It can help to balance and harmonise hormone levels. Additionally it helps to reduce stress and facilitates relaxation. During pregnancy, maternity reflexology can assist in relieving many of the symptoms commonly associated with pregnancy such as:
• Morning sickness
• Heartburn
• Hormonal and menopausal imbalances
• Nausea and headaches
• Back Pain
• Swelling and discomfort
• Oedema
• Insomnia
• Digestive problems
• Menstrual problems
Reflexology can also greatly assist prior to and during birth, studies carried out in the UK and Denmark have shown that reflexology can speed up labour and dramatically reduce pain. It can also assist with encouraging the onset of labour. While after the birth, reflexology can
• induce calmness and relaxation
• encourage well being and balance
• reduce pain
• increase energy levels
• aid lactation
• prevent or reduce post natal depression

Maternity reflexology is a wonderful, easy way of supporting the family.

“There is nothing as precious as the gift of life.”

On each doula preparation course with the Art of Being with Birth, we offer a free/significantly subsidised place to someone who couldn't otherwise afford to train with us. We are particularly keen to offer places to those underrepresented in the Scottish birth world, such as those from different ethnic, racial, religious or social backgrounds.

There is currently still a scholarship place on our upcoming course commencing in September in Edinburgh that we could love to assign to an aspiring doula.

We also have postnatal training in Spring 2027 and training in Findhorn in the Scottish Highlands in Autumn 2027.

Please feel free to get in touch if you are interested or share with someone who may resonate.

It's always a joy to receive warm words of appreciation from those I have supported as doula. I sometimes have to pinch myself (metaphorically at least :) ) as I feel so blessed to do the work I do :)

After a summer break, I'm delighted to be returning for a 4 week block of Pregnancy Yoga and Birth Education at Elgin Yoga Centre from Aug 24th until Sept 14th.

My approach to yoga is Scaravelli inspired with a focus on going inwards and paying attention to your body. The aim is to invite natural, instinctive movement and spaciousness into the body with the support of breath and gravity. At the end of each class there is time allocated to exploring birth related topics with a cup of tea and biscuits.

Here's what Emily said about her experience
"Fiona’s yoga classes are excellent. She is a fount of knowledge when it comes to preparing for birth. The yoga in her classes teaches you to move your body intuitively, which is essential for birth. She also includes a relaxation part to the class, which always helps me to sleep better that evening and allows time to bond with my baby.
The final part of the class is a discussion about an aspect of pregnancy/birth, where Fiona brings her extensive knowledge and experience to the class. This has helped me feel much more prepared for pregnancy and birth, which is invaluable as a first time mum. Fiona is extremely approachable and always willing to help out and point us in the direction of helpful resources online. Thank you Fiona for helping me feel more relaxed and prepared for the final stages of pregnancy and giving birth."

It's been 15 years since I completed my doula training with Kate Woods and I could never have guessed the joy and beauty that this work could have brought to my life.

Along with Daisy Dinwoodie I am really enthused and inspired to be training new doulas. It's such an honour to support others to support families around the time of birth

Check us out at the Art of Being with Birth or get in touch with Daisy Dinwoodie or myself for further information

This time 15 years ago I completed my doula training with Kate Woods and I'm so grateful for all the joy and beauty as my doula journey unfolded since then. Last year and I began to train new doulas. It's been so inspiring to witness and support women as they embark on their own doula journeys. Our next training with begins in Edinburgh in September.
