Alohã from my morning meditation spot. Been trying to keep some sort of daily routine and rhythm going whilst I am in this strange post-op hiatus. Without it I tend to come a bit unstuck. Today the necklace I am wearing popped up into my consciousness whilst I was writing. I bought it in Hawaii a long time ago because I wanted it as a souvenir of my honeymoon and, despite my not very subtle hints, nobody was listening so I bought it for myself and wore it every day. It was a lesson to value my own worth first. If I wanted something for myself I needed to make it happen for myself. The marriage is now also in the past and I haven’t worn the necklace for a while but like the word Alohã (which reflects through it when you shine a light on it) I love that it represents more than itself. The idea of the Aloha spirit is that it coordinates the mind and heart with each person; it is a greeting, a sign of respect, peace, compassion, mercy, love, a goodbye. It combines alo - presence with hã - breath of life. I’ve decided to start wearing it again.
