๐Ÿšจ Important Notice to Patients ๐Ÿšจ

We are disappointed to report that our patient toilet has recently been left in an unacceptable condition, resulting in significant cleaning requirements and raising concerns regarding infection control within the practice.

Our facilities are provided for the benefit of all patients and staff, and we expect them to be used respectfully and hygienically at all times.

Incidents of this nature place additional pressures on our team, disrupt the running of the practice, and can potentially impact the health and wellbeing of both staff and patients.

We will not tolerate deliberate misuse of our facilities. Should further incidents occur, we will have no option but to review patient access to toilet facilities and may restrict their use in the future.

We appreciate the cooperation of the vast majority of our patients and thank you for helping us maintain a safe and clean environment for everyone.

We have received several enquiries from patients regarding the recent bereavement within our Crimond Medical Centre community.

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Professor Abha Maheshwari, beloved wife of Dr Nitin Maheshwari.

Professor Maheshwari was Clinical Director and Lead Consultant at Aberdeen Fertility Centre, a respected researcher, and Editor-in-Chief of the journal Human Fertility. Throughout her career, she touched countless lives through her dedication, compassion, and commitment to improving fertility care.

She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, colleagues, patients, and all those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Our thoughts are with Dr Maheshwari and his family at this difficult time.

Professor Maheshwari leaves behind her husband, Nitin, and their children, Naman and Stuthi, whom she loved dearly.

For those who would like to learn more about Professor Maheshwari's remarkable life and career, a tribute can be found here:

Many patients have also asked about making a donation in her memory. In accordance with Abha's wishes, donations may be made to Roxburghe House, Aberdeen, via the following memorial page:

๐Ÿ’œ Forever remembered for the difference she made to so many lives.

PET pays tribute to the late Professor Abha Maheshwari and presents highlights from her wide-ranging contributions to PET events.

A new position paper from researchers at the University of Aberdeen warns that opioid use disorder in the UK is a "large and probably underestimated" problem, and that without urgent action, opioid addiction and opioid-related deaths will continue to rise.
