Pottery Fun! 🏺

After recently completing a pottery course myself and having so much fun, I thought it would be lovely to try and recreate it with our residents.

Last week we got started with pinch pots, and today we had lots of fun painting our creations. There were some wonderfully creative shapes and designs, including a lovely little trinket holder made by Judy.

We’re looking forward to getting our hands stuck in again next time, when we’ll be making coil pots!

Who knows where our pottery journey will take us! Perhaps we'll have our own stand at our Christmas market... 😁🥰 More on that to come!

We've had a wonderful week of birthday celebrations here at the home! 🎉🎂🎁

We celebrated the birthdays of Michael, Dorothy and Margaret on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Unfortunately, I didn't manage to get any photos of Michael's special day, but I know he had a lovely day!

Dorothy said she'd never had such a fuss made of her before, and she treated us all to a truly heartfelt speech that left everyone smiling.

Our lovely, smiley Margaret was overcome with emotion as she celebrated with her sons by her side.

Happy Birthday once again to Michael, Dorothy and Margaret! Thank you for letting us be part of your special celebrations. ❤️🎈

We love making the most of our beautiful garden at New Forest Nursing Home, enjoying the fresh air and sunshine together. And now we're getting even more use of it...

A huge thank you to Rachel, lovely Barbie's daughter, who has been running our gardening group. The residents are absolutely loving it!

It's been such a wonderful opportunity for everyone to spend the morning together in the fresh air, chatting, gardening, and making new memories. Seeing the smiles, laughter, and friendships grow alongside the very impressive vegetables, is brilliant!

Thank you, Rachel, for giving your time and enthusiasm to create such a lovely activity for our residents. We can't wait to see our garden continue to bloom! 🌸🌱💚

Some photos from Saturday's Summer Fete! ☀️🥳🎉

What a wonderful day we had! Our residents, families, friends and visitors all came together to make it such a special occasion, and we're so grateful to everyone who came along and supported us.

We were treated to a fantastic ukulele band performance, a dog show of the bestest girls and boys, brilliant stallholders, and plenty of delicious food throughout the day.

A huge thank you to Rachel, Oli and Fritz for running a brilliant BBQ, and to Aysha for making the most incredible samosas—I definitely regret not buying a curry!

A special thank you to Peter for doing an amazing job with our plant stall, and to Bernie, Imelda, Marites, Akhil, his lovely wife, Sanio and Jothin for all of your help throughout the day. And a thank you to everyone who was working as usual and making sure of all residents were looked after!

Finally, a huge thank you to Lisa, Crystal and Andy for all the hard work that went into organising, setting everything up and making the day possible.

If I've forgotten anyone, please forgive me! We truly appreciate every single person who helped make the day such a success.

We've certainly been keeping busy at the home recently!

We thought it was about time we shared a little update, as we've been so busy making the most of the lovely weather and enjoying some fantastic activities with our residents!

One of our recent highlights was our summer BBQ out on the lawn. Staff enjoyed some friendly games of badminton and football, while our residents sat back, relaxed and loved watching all the fun unfold.

A huge thank you goes to Sanio for organising such a brilliant event, Rachel for preparing the most delicious food (the lime and malteaser cheesecake was amazing! 🍰), and Rameesh, Nihara, Ashka, and Alfa for making it all possible!

Our entertainment has been just as wonderful. We were delighted to welcome Neal Turner, who had everyone singing along while he played bass and entertained us with a fantastic selection of music. The atmosphere was brilliant! We also enjoyed another visit from the amazing Retro Rita, whose beautiful summery sing-along had everyone smiling and joining in, as she always does. And last but not least, Sarah Hobbs, who wowed us all with her beautiful voice and excellent choice of songs that had everyone joining in!

Outside, our garden is absolutely thriving thanks to all of Peter and Terry's hard work and dedication. We're now harvesting our own cucumbers, our herbs are flourishing, and the tomatoes are coming along beautifully. There's something really special about being able to enjoy produce grown right here in our own garden.

With the temperatures soaring, we've been finding plenty of ways to stay cool too! We've enjoyed lots of ice creams and dipping toes in paddling pools to cool off. This morning we had a delicious fruit tasting session. Tomorrow we're looking forward to making refreshing mocktails using fresh mint picked straight from our garden, along with some frozen smoothies to help us beat the heat. 🍓🍹🌿

So, if you've noticed we've been a little quieter on social media recently, we do apologise! We've simply been busy keeping cool and making the most of every sunny day.
