ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by persistent patterns of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity that affect functioning at home, school, or work, often starting in childhood and continuing into adulthood. Symptoms include difficulty focusing, restlessness, and acting without thinking, with different presentations (predominantly inattentive, hyperactive-impulsive, or combined). Management involves strategies like therapy, lifestyle adjustments (exercise, sleep), and sometimes medication.

Types of ADHD
Predominantly Inattentive Presentation: Focuses on struggles with focus and organization.

Predominantly Hyperactive-Impulsive Presentation: Focuses on restlessness and impulsivity.

Combined Presentation: A mix of both inattention and hyperactivity-impulsivity.

Addiction:
Living with an addict can be a traumatic experience, especially if the addict is a loved one. Witnessing the chaos and destruction caused by addiction can lead to emotional and psychological abuse, which can cause PTSD. Emotional abuse can include verbal attacks, manipulation, and gaslighting.

Be clear about the behaviour you will and won't accept. Maintaining healthy boundaries helps protect your own wellbeing as well as your loved one's. Remember that you can still seek professional advice and support for yourself, whether or not your loved one is engaging in treatment.
