If you’ve been in the practice this week you might have spotted our new child friendly seating!

A big thank you to Somerset Foundation Trust and the General Practice Support Unit for their help in funding these new additions to our waiting rooms, made possible because we have the space here to host our Community Investigation Hubs. This means our patients can have tests such as blood tests, lung function test and ECGs here at the practice, rather than travelling to one of the bigger hospitals.

🗣 LET'S TALK PROSTATE CANCER

Have you been diagnosed with prostate cancer, experienced it in the past, or are concerned about your risk?

Join us at the practice for a relaxed chat, where you can share experiences, ask questions, and tell us how we can better support you. We will also hear from someone with lived experience who hopes to establish a local support group.

📅 Thursday 25th June
🕕 6pm to 7pm

This is a free event but please register to attend. Search for our 'events' page on the website or click the link below and scroll down to 25th June where you will see the event listed and the link to book to come along.

Opportunity to take part in research on bone health and osteoporosis medicines for people with memory problems.

Do you have a memory problem or dementia and, if so, have you been recommended tablet, injection or drip osteoporosis medicines?

Or do you have a relative or friend who fits this criteria?

If so, Keele University would like to hear from you as they need people to take part in their research. Taking part will involve:

➡ a conversation type interview
➡ you can take part on your own or joined by a family member or friend
➡ interviews can be in person, on the telephone or via a video call at a time which works for you

If you do take part, the interview will be recorded and a written copy of it will be made but personal information will be removed so the interview cannot be traced back to you.

If you'd like to take part, scan the relevant QR code on this post or call 01782 731549 or email [email protected]

Carer's Week at Frome Medical Practice

It's Carer's Week next week, and we are hosting a number of opportunities to drop in at the practice and find out about support that's available locally.

As a practice, we offer support for unpaid carers. We have a Carers Champion at the practice who helps carers find the support they need. We have a list of unpaid carers, who are either registered with us or provide care for someone else who is registered with us. Once we know you're an unpaid carer, we can provide you with information about what support is available locally, as well as vaccinations, health checks and support at times that better suit your caring responsibilities, when available.

Find out more and register with us as an unpaid carer via our website - search 'carers' or click the link below. And do pop into the practice next week if you can:

Monday 8th June, 10am to 11:30am
Meet our Carers Champion in reception at the practice and find out how we can support you if you are an unpaid carer.

Wednesday 10th June, 2pm to 3:30pm
Come along to the Memory Cafe, which takes place at the InTouch Cafe in the practice. Organised by Frome Dementia Action Alliance. For people with dementia and their carers.

Friday 12th June, 9:30am to 12:30pm
Do you look after a family member or friend who is ill, elderly, disabled and needs extra help? Meet Frome Carers Group in reception at the practice and find out about more about them and how they support carers in Frome.
