Are you free on Saturday 26th September in the morning? If so, we need your help!

We are ready to prepare the next stage of our pancreatic cancer art installation and this time we need people to help us cut out pre-drawn butterflies! Our artist, Caroline Rudge, has made a start (see second slide) but we'd love more people to help!

The butterflies will be used alongside the hundreds of pairs of shoes we've already laced with purple ribbon, which will form part of a powerful visual display, helping to raise awareness of pancreatic cancer and representing the many individuals and families affected by this disease.

🚨 CLINICAL PHARMACIST JOB VACANCY - CLOSING DATE TO APPLY IS 20TH SEPTEMBER 🚨

We have a vacancy for a Clinical Pharmacist to join our team of enthusiastic and highly motivated Clinical Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians, supporting patient care.

You'll be responsible for optimising and ensuring the safety of our patients’ medication through medication reviews, chronic disease reviews, repeat prescribing, and medicines management following discharge from hospital.

You'll support the achievement of our annual QOF and IIF targets, ICB prescribing incentive measures and conducting audits/quality improvement projects.

You will be on a rotation as ‘duty pharmacist’, managing daily queries and urgent prescription requests, and would be expected to work one evening clinic per month.

You would be part of a group of pharmacists and GPs who are keen to develop new services and enjoy project working alongside routine clinics. Recent examples include piloting an MDT for medication reviews for housebound patients, and a Cardiovascular-Kidney-Metabolic pharmacist chronic disease clinic.

Our winter vaccination programme starts in 2 weeks time. Thank you to everyone who has already booked their appointments with us.

If you've not yet booked then there is still time to do this.

If you're eligible for either the flu or COVID vaccine call us on our special winter vaccination number 01373 301300 and we can get you booked in.

Please check with family, friends or neighbours who might have missed this information to see if they've booked yet.

Who is eligible for the flu vaccination?

Patients aged 65 and over
Patients with certain long term health conditions
Pregnant women
Patients living in care home
Patients living with someone who has a weakened immune system
Main carers for an older or disabled person or receive a carer’s allowance
All children aged 2 or 3 years old on 31st August 2026, school aged children (reception to year 11), all children in clinical risk groups from 6 months to less than 18 years old

Have you heard of our Habits For health programme?

Habits for Health is for people who would like support to improve their health and wellbeing. Whether you're living with a long-term health condition, low mood, or want to manage things like hypertension or cholesterol, the programme may be for you.

The programme supports you in building healthier habits and gaining confidence in managing your health.

Through practical activities, group discussions and weekly habit-building challenges, you'll develop the skills and confidence to begin making lasting changes.

We've a new group starting on Friday 16th October, from 11:30am to 1pm, for 6 weeks. Sessions are led by a Health Connector and take place each week at the practice.

👨‍💻 DIGITAL HEALTH SUPPORT AVAILABLE THIS WEEK

Our digital support team will be available at various times again this week, to help any of our patients needing assistance with digital health issues, such as using our online request form, letting us know your email address (or setting one up), downloading and using the NHS App, using our online forms, ordering repeat prescriptions online and so on.

No appointments needed but please bring your mobile phone or tablet if you are coming to see us.

🎉 CONGRATULATIONS!

We love ended the week on a high note and so it's timely that today we can announce that we've been shortlisted as a finalist at the Health Tech Newspaper (HTN) Health Tech Awards for our work on digital inclusion and improving health inequalities.

We now provide around 13 hours of community-based digital support each week, reaching thousands of patients over the last few years. By providing devices and data, where needed, and hands-on guidance and support, we have reduced digital fear, improved access and increased NHS App use.

A huge congratulations to our Digital Data and Technology Team, and particularly to Steven and Will, who many of you will have met and received digital support from.

We are up against some tough competition but look forward to the awards, which take place in October!
