For the first time, grief, death and bereavement will be included as part of the school curriculum in England.
At Child Bereavement UK, we welcome this important change, which will give children and young people the opportunity to learn about grief, loss and bereavement in a safe, age appropriate and planned way.
As our advisor John Adams says:
“Having grief and bereavement recognised within the school curriculum provides reassurance that these conversations are not only acceptable but important.”
We have campaigned for these changes for many years and hope they will help give both pupils and teachers greater confidence when talking about grief and supporting those who are bereaved.
