Or just for upbeat people seeking more joy! What does the group involve? Active listening- we begin the group with a casual chat where participants can share & spread positivity- (I will ask those who want to share to raise their hands- so individuals are not directly addressed) you can always just sit and listen- no judgements passed. This is a safe space to express your positivity. Final relaxation: Starting with mindful Yoga practice –let go of the day and stretch out any aches and pains. Mindfulness helps bring you into the present moment, so you can pause worrying about the future or the past and enjoy your life right now (very gentle and beginner friendly-) no experience required. Please make me aware of any injuries or illness ahead of class so I can accommodate you. We end with guided meditation or visualisation techniques, helping to reduce stress and anxiety, promote well-being, ease insomnia and many endless benefits- leaving you feeling rejuvenated, relaxed and simply wonderful. This portion is also excellent for raising your vibration and getting you closer to personal goals. What do I need to bring? Please bring your own Yoga/Pilates mat, blanket and cushion- there are limited spares available. Please wear loose comfortable clothing and socks, wrap up warm and bring a bottle of water with you. A chair can be provided if sitting on a mat/cushion is not appropriate for you. We are operating within government guidelines- mats will be spaced appropriately. There is hand sanitiser on entry and antibacterial wipes will be provided- there is good ventilation in the hall. How much is the group? Drop-in sessions are £6 per session. An introduction:
My name is Franchesca and I am an advanced Yoga & Pilates teacher with Trauma-sensitive training. I am a well being advisor and health coach- I have studied counselling, nutrition, pharmacology, massage and personal training. My biggest qualification so far however, is lived experience. What I mean by that is despite my studies, the most important factor in healing (mental and physical) was always my outlook. I wanted to share my experience with as many people as possible and spread happiness as far as I can- but I need your help! What does Sammā-Vāyāma mean? Right Effort (Samma Vayama) is the sixth part of the Eightfold Path of Buddhism. The Buddha taught that the Eightfold Path is the means to realize enlightenment. The most basic, traditional definition of Right Effort is to exert oneself to develop wholesome qualities and release unwholesome qualities. You might think Right Effort means practicing hard, but that's not necessarily so. Do not forget the Middle Way, between extremes. Don't push yourself to exhaustion. If your practice becomes a "chore," that's a problem. We are nourished by joy and interest. Sammā-Vāyāma group is run collaboratively- facilitated by the group as a whole. This means while I will be guiding the Yoga and Visualisation portions- the rest is up to the attendees- don’t panic, it is all optional. Why work collaboratively?
- We are often exposed to negativity: the news, work, negative people, negative self-talk etc. Even if part of other talking groups or therapies, the focus tends to be on “issues”- while these are important, this is the perfect opportunity to talk about all the good things in life.
- People often find themselves focused on what they don’t have or what they don’t like- this can cloud everything and life can start to look gloomy. It isn’t often the situations we are in- just how we are looking at them. Start to feel abundance, gratitude and inner peace just by changing the people we surround ourselves with. See your world, loved ones and yourself in a whole new light.
- We are like satellites! That might sound strange, but we all emit energy- when your vibration is low, you feel low and undesirable events or people are attracted. Like a magnet -you can attract opportunity, wealth and health instead. Being in a room of like minded people we can emit a stronger signal- shared experiences are powerful and restorative.
- Being heard is one of the most profound and important practices you can ever experience. Many of the core elements used in psychotherapy and any healing comes from just being listened to- really listened to. Let’s beat loneliness and lack of connection by hearing, sharing and seeing the beauty that surrounds us.
- This isn’t my story- it’s yours, while I can suggest what heals you most, you might intuitively know better- share it with others, if it helps just one other person you have made a huge impact.
