Speyside Counselling Counselling, Psychotherapy and Supervision covering the Moray area and beyond

The public face of therapy is really changing.

When I qualified 20 years ago, going to therapy was spoken about in hushed, almost reverent tones.

Now there’s content about it all over social media and some of it is really funny!

It feels like it’s become more normalised. More talked about. And therapists are perhaps a bit more human in how they’re seen.

At the end of the day therapy is two people, sitting together; one with a particular set of training and skills — who, on another day, might be in their own therapy trying to make sense of their world.

There's so much information available now but with that might come a sense that we should be able to figure things out without additional help.

In my experience, it doesn’t (always) quite work like that and sometimes it’s not just about joining the dots but also about staying with the confusing messiness of feelings long enough to process them.

My name is Jennifer, thank you for visiting my website. I am fortunate to be based in the picturesque village of Garmouth in Moray. I have enjoyed working in various locations across Scotland since I qualified as a Counsellor in 2006. When I started out, I worked for Aberdeen Foyer before moving on....
