📖✨ THE PILATES DICTIONARY ✨📖
Ever wondered what on earth I’m talking about when I throw out Pilates cues? 🤭 Here’s a little guide to some of the phrases you’ll hear in class…
🧘♀️ Engage Your Core
Think of gently zipping up your tummy, drawing your belly button towards your spine, and creating a strong, supportive centre. It’s about control, not holding your breath! 💚
🌿 Spinal Articulation
Moving through your spine one vertebra at a time, creating smooth, controlled movement. Think of peeling your spine off the mat like a string of pearls. ✨
🌙 C-Curve
A gentle rounded shape through your spine, often used in abdominal work. Imagine you’re hugging a big beach ball and scooping your tummy in. 🏖️
🩰 Pilates V
Heels together, toes slightly turned out to make a small “V”. This helps activate your inner thighs and glutes while maintaining alignment. 💪
🤍 Neutral Spine
The natural curves of your spine are maintained—you’re not flattening or arching. This is your body’s happy place for stability and efficient movement. 🌿
Remember… Pilates isn’t about perfection—it’s about precision, control, breath and mindful movement. 💚 Every cue has a purpose, and the more you understand them, the more you’ll get from every class!
