Loneliness is often misunderstood.
People imagine loneliness as being physically alone, but many people experience loneliness while surrounded by others.
You can have family, friends, colleagues and still feel disconnected and still feel unseen. Still feel like nobody really knows what you're carrying.
Often it's not a lack of people, it's a lack of meaningful connection.
Feeling understood.
Feeling accepted.
Feeling able to be yourself.
Loneliness can affect anyone, and it isn't always obvious from the outside.
As conversations around loneliness continue this week, it's worth remembering that connection isn't simply a social need. It's an important part of our psychological wellbeing.
If this resonates with you, you're not alone.
