πŸ“’ **Get Back-to-School Ready – Book Your Child's MMR Vaccination Today!** πŸ’‰πŸ“š

As children prepare to head back to school, now is the perfect time to make sure they're protected against **measles, mumps and rubella (MMR)**.

⚠️ **Measles cases are increasing**, and it is much more than just a childhood rash. Measles is highly contagious and can lead to serious complications, including:
πŸ”Ή Ear infections that can affect hearing
πŸ”Ή Pneumonia (a severe lung infection)
πŸ”Ή Seizures caused by high fever
πŸ”Ή Inflammation of the brain (encephalitis), which can cause permanent brain damage
πŸ”Ή In rare cases, it can be life-threatening

The **MMR vaccine is safe, effective and provides the best protection** against these diseases. Two doses offer excellent, long-lasting protection and help prevent the spread of infection within our community.

If your child has missed one or both doses of the MMR vaccine, it's never too late to catch up.

πŸ“ž **Contact the practice today to book an appointment** and help protect your child before the new school term begins.

Together, we can help keep our children, families and community safe. πŸ’™

🌞 Keeping Safe During the Heatwave 🌞

With the hot weather continuing, we'd like to remind our patients to take extra care and stay cool

πŸ’§ Drink plenty of water throughout the day and avoid spending long periods in direct sunlight where possible.

πŸ“ž If you have a GP appointment booked and would prefer not to travel in the heat, we may be able to convert your appointment to a telephone consultation. If you'd rather attend in person when the weather is cooler, we can also discuss rebooking your appointment where appropriate.

⏰ Please do not arrive too early for your appointment, as waiting times in warm conditions can be uncomfortable. If you're unsure of your appointment time, you can check it by calling the surgery and using our Check and Cancel Appointments option.

🚰 If you need a drink of water while you're at the surgery, or would like your water bottle refilled, please speak to a member of our reception team who will be happy to help.

Please take care of yourselves, check in on vulnerable family members, friends and neighbours, and stay safe in the heat.

Patient Needs Groups explained

Health and social care providers are asked to jointly plan neighbourhood health for the local populations with an initial focus on people with the most complex health and care needs.

To help clinicians tailor care for people, especially those with the greatest need, people in Kent and Medway will start to be segmented using the Johns Hopkins tool. This puts people into Patient Needs Groups (PNGs).

If you use the NHS App, you may have already seen your PNG.

How do PNGs work?
Everyone is different. Some people are very healthy, some have one or two health problems, and some have many health problems.
The PNG system puts people into 11 different groups based on how much care and support they are likely to need.
Your group can change if your health changes.
More information can be found here: Patient Need Groups and Neighbourhood Teams

It's and whatever your skin colour, staying safe in the sun reduces your chances of getting skin cancer.

You can help prevent this by following these steps:

⏰Avoid being in the sun from 11am to 3pm, the hottest part of the day.
πŸ”₯Make sure you apply sun cream regularly and try never to get sunburn.
β˜€Your sun cream should have an SPF of at least factor 30, and a minimum of a four-star rating.
πŸ‘’Wear a hat and stay covered up with suitable clothes and sunglasses.
