💙Were you diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes during pregnancy?

You have had your baby, what happens next:

For most women blood sugar levels return to normal after birth and gestational diabetes goes away.

You will need a blood test around 6–13 weeks after birth to check your glucose levels. This is usually done through your GP.

Having gestational diabetes does increase your risk of developing type 2 diabetes in the future, so it's important to attend follow-up appointments and maintain a healthy lifestyle. 💙

Some women and pregnant people may need Inhixa, a blood thinner, if you have a higher risk of blood clots due to pregnancy, medical history, or certain conditions.

Inhixa helps prevent blood clots in your blood vessels, which can be dangerous for you and your baby during pregnancy and for some time after your baby is born. If you have been prescribed this, it is really important that you take it.

How to use it:
➡️Inject as instructed by your doctor or midwife.
➡️Take it at the same time each day.

Questions?
Speak to your midwife — we’re here to help!

Live in Medway? Medway Council and Best Start for Life are looking to improve the support available to LGBTQ+ parents/carers of children under the age of 5. They are looking to engage both LGBTQ+ parents/carers and professionals to understand the following:
• What support needs LGBTQ+ parents/carers have?
• What barriers they might face to accessing support?
• What support already exists in Medway?
• How provision could be improved to further support LGBTQ+ parents/cares?

Parents/carers can engage in the following ways:
• Interview: by texting ‘family’ to 07356 247440
or emailing [email protected]
to sign up for an informal, confidential chat with a TONIC researcher
