Between travel and the nature of the research I’ve been working on recently, I’ve not had the pleasure of exploring the 1926 Irish Census since it was released last month. But that all changed this week when working on a client’s family history where EVERY line, on both sides of their family, lead from Scotland to Ireland. It looked possible one ancestor had returned to Ireland and died there in the late 1920s. Without the 1926 census, a good bit of detailed detective work would have been needed to prove or disprove the death found was for the correct person. But the information on the 1926 census cut short that process with a near instantaneous eureka moment. A win for both me and my client. So looking forward to exploring it more.
