I am looking for 3 people who want to dramatically improve their self-awareness and rediscover themselves.

✨Have you been through an Illness, a health condition, or a disability?

✨ You're feeling overwhelmed with all the change.

✨You don't feel like your normal self anymore.

✨Your life as it was before has gone.

You feel lost, alone, and stuck.
You no longer know who you are as a person. And you don't know where to start or who to talk to.

Let me hear your story
I am offering a complimentary call to help you get started on finding yourself.

At the beginning of the week, I posted about when you have a chronic Illness/disability how we are left feeling after doing basic tasks, compared to healthy people. I would say severely exhausted, and with a much longer time frame.

Another way of explaining this is through the spoon theory: when a healthy or non-disabled person wakes up, their energy is sitting at 50 spoons. A person with an Illness or disability wakes up at 20 spoons, so already our energy is low.

An example of how this would work with basic housework.

A non-disabled or no-energy-issues person doing the dishes by hand: 2 spoons of energy.

A C-illness/disability person uses up to 6 spoons doing the dishes.

So no matter what tasks we do, we already have a disadvantage.

I am interested to know if others know about the spoon theory and/or if you use it to plan your day?

We can still live; we have to do things differently from what society normally expects.
Chronic Illness, physical or mental, isn't just a normal Illness; it is unrelenting, affecting all the parts of our lives every day. Some are invisible, causing more challenges.

We have to learn to live with them because there are no cures and very few treatments. Most of our lives, we also try to get people to understand how different things are for us compared to a healthy person. There is a very slim chance that will happen; you know the saying, " you don't know what you don't know".

So imagine the difference it makes speaking to a person who does know and understands, and really gets you and the struggles and challenges you have to endure every day without you having to go into too much detail. Less frustrating, feeling seen and heard, respected, believed, and understood. Thats what happens when you choose the right counsellor for your needs.

IDENTITY.

Do you feel lost and alone because you don't know who you are anymore?

We all take who we are as people for granted, but sometimes things happen in life that rock us and can turn our world upside down, and that causes change.

For example: Loss, Divorce, moving away, Illness, Health problems, and much more.

We become overwhelmed, and who we once were gets buried.
As a Therapist, one of the things I help clients with is to find themselves again, the newer, up-to-date version.

If this sounds like something you need help with, or want to know more about, DM me or comment below.

Something that really annoys me is when someone who has a chronic Illness says to someone, "I am really tired ", and they answer I know how you feel.

They really don't. When a person with a chronic Illness says they are really tired, it's more like severe exhaustion, and it just hits you without warning; it can be in the middle of doing something or absolutely nothing.

I know how it feels because it happens to me, so when I say to a client, " I get it ", It's because I have walked the walk; I understand how that severe exhaustion feels, no need for explanation.

It is not my fault that you believe my disability stops me from having the life I want.

It is not my fault you think I am a burden or incapable
It is not my fault that you speak over me, as if I do not exist.
It's not my fault that you don't see me as an adult.

My fault is believing it and allowing it to continue.

No one has the right to assume your worth or capabilities except you.

Internalised Ableism

Some believe disability is bad; it makes you unworthy and a burden.
It makes you incapable, not disabled enough for help.
Too disabled for a life
You are less desirable, worthless. low intelligence

These Are All Lies.

The key to accepting yourself lies in understanding that your past mistakes and failures don't define you.
