MEET THE TEAM MONDAY 💜

Hi! My name is Sarah and I am a senior dispenser at Connect Eyecare. I've worked here for 4 years and in that time, I've met so many incredible people within the care sector. 👁️‍🗨️

For me, the best part of my job is building connections with our patients. I loved hearing about the jobs they had, the family they love, and the wild experiences they once encountered. Everyone has a story and I'm always there to listen. 🫂

I think getting to know someone on that personal level also makes it even more rewarding when I'm able to help find them the perfect glasses - seeing a smile that reminds someone of who they are is an incredible feeling. 🤓

One thing you don't know about me is that my favourite animal is a raccoon and if I could have one as a pet, I would. His name would be Robert. 🦝

We sit beside each person, talk through what will suit their prescription and daily needs, and gently guide them through trying frames on with a mirror. It is a slow, steady process that gives them time to see what feels comfortable and familiar. 🫶

Alongside the residents we support, we often meet the furry friends that bring comfort, routine and joy to the home. Cats looking for attention, dogs settling beside us, even the occasional surprise visitor!! 🦜🐴

Once upon a time, a 93‑year‑old care‑home resident discovered a new love for drawing.

Every day, she tried to enjoy her hobby, but her vision made it harder and harder to continue.

One day, her carer reached out for help, arranging a dementia‑friendly home eye examination with Connect Eyecare.

Because of that, she had a visit at home from a kind, caring optician who utilised state-of-the-art portable equipment including an advanced retinal camera - which revealed the reason for her trouble was caused by age‑related macular degeneration.

Because of that, her optometrist was able to explain what was happening, offer reassurance, and provide a tailored solution — including dedicated drawing glasses designed specifically to support her new hobby.

Until finally, Connect Eyecare supplied drawing glasses within 3-days, with a wider field-of-vision, and she was able to enjoy her artwork again with improved clarity, confidence, and comfort.
