Safe aesthetics start with the person holding the needle, not the postcode of the clinic.

Before you book anything, Dr Kieren B**g wants you to ask the right questions.

Who is actually carrying out your treatment? Are they medically qualified? How much real experience do they have? Do they properly understand facial anatomy, and could they manage a complication if one happened?

A safe clinic never rushes your consultation. You should be asked about your medical history, your concerns and what you’re hoping to achieve, before any treatment is even discussed. And you should feel free to ask questions back. What product is being used? Why that one? What are the risks? What happens if something goes wrong?

A good clinician welcomes every one of those questions.

Dr Kieren B**g sees the same patterns week after week, and it’s rarely about which product or procedure someone’s using. It’s the basics done consistently: protecting the skin barrier, wearing SPF daily (yes, even in Scotland), keeping routines simple, prioritising sleep and staying consistent rather than chasing quick fixes.

Question of the Week - “How Much Filler Do I Actually Need?”

How does Dr Kieren B**g decide how much filler a patient actually needs? He doesn’t start with the syringe. He starts with your face.

Every patient is different. Dr B**g assesses facial proportions, bone structure, volume loss, skin quality, and, most importantly, what’s actually causing the concern. Sometimes a patient thinks they need lip filler when the real issue is chin support.

Sometimes they ask for more cheek filler when subtle support elsewhere would do the job.

There’s no magic number of millilitres. The right amount is whatever restores balance, not whatever fills the syringe.

Dr B**g would always rather under treat and review than over treat in one session, because you can always add more. It’s much harder to take it away.

The best treatment plan isn’t based on how much filler you can have. It’s based on how little you need to achieve the result.

Question of the Week: Is there a treatment you get asked about a lot that you wouldn’t actually recommend?

Dr Kieren B**g gets asked about PDO threads more than almost any other treatment, and his answer might surprise you: he doesn’t recommend them.

They’re heavily marketed as a quick way to tighten the skin. In Dr B**g’s experience, the results are often subtle, unpredictable and short lived. They rarely give patients the lifting effect they’re hoping for.

That doesn’t mean they never work. It means Dr B**g doesn’t believe they’re the best option for most patients. He’d rather recommend treatments backed by stronger clinical evidence and more consistent results, whether that’s radiofrequency skin tightening, carefully placed dermal filler to restore structural support, or a combination of both.

Dr B**g’s approach has always been simple: he only recommends treatments he genuinely believes offer good value, meaningful results and high patient satisfaction. If he wouldn’t choose it for his own family, he won’t recommend it to you.
