A big well done to all the ladies who took part in the Thornliebank Bowling Club ladies triples on Wednesday.

Even with the rain forcing a wee pause, spirits stayed high and the bowls were brilliant.

Currently in our Shawlands funeral home we have space for eight guests.

Each person is washed, dressed in their own clothes. We know them by their first name and what their family loved about them.

Last week we read about a planning application for a 700 person mortuary in York! Made by a well known national direct cremation company. No doubt you have seen their ads on TV. With this company you do not have the option of visiting your loved one, having them washed, dressed in their own clothes, having a funeral ceremony or where your loved one is resting.

This is a gentle reminder that local funeral companies like us, staffed by people in your community, can arrange a direct cremation. You will still have the option of visiting your loved one or even having an attended ceremony before the cremation.
