When someone passes away at home, one of the first calls made is to a funeral director. Their first call team can be dispatched at any hour, day or night — often the first unfamiliar faces a grieving family sees.
At Allan Menzies & Co, this part of the work is quiet by design. Our team is trained to move calmly, speak softly, and carry out every part of the transfer with a kind of practiced respect that never draws attention to itself. It's an unusual role — showing up at 2am to care for someone's loved one, with strangers watching, and still finding the steadiness to do right by them.
Most people never think about who does this work until they need it. If a first-call team has ever come to your home, what do you remember most about that moment?
Looking after your loved ones the way we would look after our own.
