💙Carer's Week💙

As Carers Week begins, we want to take a moment to recognise the extraordinary contribution unpaid carers make to families and communities across Scotland.

Every day, countless people dedicate their time, energy and compassion to supporting a loved one, friend or neighbour. Often carried out quietly and without recognition, their commitment helps people live independently, maintain their wellbeing and stay connected to the things that matter most.

Our Chief Executive, David Reilly, shared the following message:

"Carers, particularly unpaid carers, play an invaluable role in supporting some of the most vulnerable members of our communities. Every day, they provide comfort, reassurance, companionship and practical support that enables people to live independently and with dignity.

The commitment shown by unpaid carers often goes unseen, yet their contribution is fundamental to the wellbeing of those they care for and to the wider health and social care system. Their compassion, patience and resilience make a meaningful difference to people's lives every single day.

On behalf of everyone at Baillieston Community Care & Extended Personal Care, I would like to express our sincere gratitude to all unpaid carers. During Carers Week, it is especially important that we recognise and celebrate their dedication, while also acknowledging the challenges they can face. Thank you for everything you do. Your support, kindness and selflessness do not go unnoticed."

- David Reilly
Chief Executive

This week, and every week, we celebrate the individuals whose care, patience and support make such a meaningful impact.

To all unpaid carers: thank you for everything you do. Your contribution matters, and it does not go unnoticed.

🌈June is Pride Month, and Baillieston Community Care & Extended Personal Care would like to take this opportunity to show our support for our friends, family members, colleagues, and communities who are part of the LGBTQ+ community.

We celebrate diversity, inclusion, and the right for everyone to be their authentic selves, and we stand alongside those who continue to champion equality and acceptance.

Our Chief Executive commented:

“I would like to take this opportunity to recognise and acknowledge Pride Month 2026.

At Baillieston Community Care & Extended Personal Care, we remain committed to promoting inclusion, diversity, equality, and respect throughout our communities. Whether you are a service user, family member, friend, colleague, or partner, you deserve to feel valued, respected, and empowered to be your authentic self. Your voice matters, and you will always be seen, heard, and supported.

This month, we proudly celebrate the individuals who are part of the LGBTQ+ community and recognise the positive contributions they make to our lives, workplaces, and communities every day. We stand firmly against discrimination, prejudice, and hate speech in all its forms, and we continue to champion a culture where everyone is treated with dignity, kindness, and fairness.

Pride Month is an opportunity to celebrate diversity, reflect on the progress that has been made, and reaffirm our commitment to creating welcoming and inclusive environments where everyone can thrive.”

Here are some additional professional photos from our night at the Scottish Care Awards 2026😁

Our Chief Executive shared his thoughts on the night:

“On Friday 15th May 2026, I, alongside a number of my colleagues, attended the Scottish Care – Care at Home & Housing Support Awards. The evening was filled with a fantastic atmosphere, opportunities to network with professionals across the sector, great food, and shared experiences. These award nights are always incredibly special, as they allow us to witness first-hand the outstanding work that continues to take place throughout our sector.

Baillieston Community Care were shortlisted in two fantastic categories: Provider of the Year and Care Innovation. While we did not take home an award on the night, we were absolutely honoured to have our nominations shortlisted amongst more than 190 entries. Being recognised at this level is an achievement in itself and something we are immensely proud of.

I would also like to extend my congratulations to everyone who was announced as a winner in their respective categories.

I was also given the amazing opportunity to take to the stage and announce the Outstanding Achievement Award to a truly inspiring individual. As this award was kept completely secret, the recipient had no idea what was about to happen. This made the moment incredibly emotional and touching, and I felt extremely proud to have had the privilege of announcing the winner.

Finally, I would like to give special recognition to my incredible teams at Baillieston Community Care and Extended Personal Care. Every year, we strive to submit nominations that reflect the passion, commitment, and outstanding work carried out across our organisation. Being named finalists at the Scottish Care Awards is a true reflection of everything we continue to achieve together.

We would not be in the position we are today without our dedicated staff team, and I would like to personally thank every member of staff for their passion, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to delivering the highest standards of care and support.

I could not be prouder to lead this organisation. While challenges will always exist within the sector, I remain inspired every single day to ensure that Baillieston Community Care and Extended Personal Care continue to provide the highest standard of service expected by our Service Users.”

We’ve been proud to take part in the campaign 💚

As Scotland goes to the polls today, these stories have shown what care creates every single day – connection, dignity and a real sense of community.

Care that supports people to live well, stay independent and remain connected to the place they call home.

Whatever today brings, we hope the next government continues to recognise the value of social care and supports the people and services that make it possible.
