Eight years ago, we opened the doors of Hester & Lalli Independent Funeral Care, and what a journey it has been.

It feels like only yesterday that our Open Day was officially opened by the truly lovely and indefatigable former MSP Linda Fabiani, alongside Collette Stevenson, who was Depute Provost of South Lanarkshire Council at the time. We remain incredibly grateful to them both for helping us mark such a special beginning.

Since that day, we have had the immense honour and privilege of serving the wonderful people of East Kilbride and further afield, supporting families through some of the most difficult and deeply personal moments of their lives.

To every family who has placed their trust in us, every person who has recommended us, and every friend, colleague and member of our community who has supported us along the way — thank you. Your kindness, trust and encouragement mean more to us than words can truly express.

Being an independent funeral care provider means that we are able to offer a very personal service, and it is something we never take for granted. Every family, every life and every farewell is unique, and it remains our greatest privilege to be there with compassion, dignity and care.

Eight years on, we look back with enormous gratitude and forward with the same commitment that we had on the very first day.

We're absolutely delighted to be sponsoring the show for the second year running. It's a fantastic event that brings so much to the local community, and we're proud to be a small part of it. 💚

Now, if someone could have a quiet word with the weather, that would be much appreciated! 🌦️😂 But as the late Mrs Hester always used to say...

Last week we were delighted to be asked to donate a bottle for the raffle at Ryan Meadows Care Home, near Kingsgate Retail Park, and to meet the lovely Kathleen.

Of course, we couldn’t arrive empty-handed, so we also brought along some shortbread and cakes, which we’re pleased to hear were enjoyed by both the residents and the staff.

We’d like to wish everyone at Ryan Meadows the very best for their big fundraising event this Saturday. We hope it’s a fantastic success, and if we get the chance to pop in and show our support, we certainly will! 😊

After a day filled with paperwork and admin, it was a lovely change of pace to have lunch with these two! 🌿🐴 They were far more interested in the lush grass outside our funeral home than the sandwiches! 😄

Wishing the very best of luck to Chillo's, who organised these gorgeous ponies for the kids at their Open Day today. We hope everyone had a fantastic time! 💚🐎

Safe to say our lunchtime guests were the highlight of the day! 😊

Mrs Hastie's Service will take place at 12:30, Friday 19th June 2026 at Holytown Crematorium, Memorial Way, Holytown, Motherwell ML1 5RU. Service conducted by Rev Graham Morrison

Out and about this Saturday, we had the pleasure (and honour!) of catching up once again with members of The Murray Bowling Club management committee, alongside Cllr Convery and many new faces at the club. It was a fantastic atmosphere all round.

On the day, we were delighted to present a rather handsome cheque to help with this year’s running costs — and we’ve no doubt it will be put to great use as the club continues to grow and thrive.
It was also lovely to meet some of the team from Dragoonis Property Maintenance, who, along with us, are proud co-sponsors of the club.

We’d gently encourage other local businesses to support community groups wherever possible — every bit helps, and it’s a great way to connect with the people who make our communities so special.
Dee, in particular, is already practising for bowling the jack… and just to be clear, not the song 🎶

Wishing all bowlers the very best for the upcoming season — we’re looking forward to joining you for a game soon (and maybe even improving our technique… no promises!).

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Connolly (03/07/1984 – 02/04/2026).

Mr Connolly’s funeral will take place at Linn Crematorium, 413 Lainshaw Drive, Glasgow, G45 9SP, on Saturday 25th April at 12:00 pm.
