August’s here with its familiar back-to-school vibe. I’m hosting renowned teacher and good MCY friend David Keil – “the anatomy guy” – for two weeks this month and I’m delighted to see so many of you choose to come and learn with him. David’s approach focuses on helping us develop understanding, consistency and a more sustainable relationship with practice.
The idea of constant studentship - for all practitioners, teachers and students alike - is baked in to the traditional teachings that underpin our yoga practice. It’s on us to stay curious, to explore and study, to think critically and ask questions. To learn from those who are a bit further down the road than we are, who are skilled in ways we admire and respect and are able to share their knowledge and wisdom in ways that support and empower us.
August also brings one of my favourite moments in the year – graduating another group of teacher trainees. They’ve spent a year studying yoga and are now moving forward with a deeper understanding of their yoga practice and the confidence to share what they find.
Continued learning isn’t just for high-days and guest teacher days, it’s for every day. That’s why we’re all here for you at MCY, and we’re looking forward to seeing you on the mat this month.

PS There’s still time to apply for our next yoga teacher training course starting 11/12 September 2026. If you’ve ever thought about it, you’re always welcome to ask questions or chat to me about what it’s really like. No pressure, just a conversation.
