AHRO Institute is a leading academic and research institution dedicated to advancing global health through interdisciplinary research, education, policy engagement, and institutional partnerships. AHRO University is the trading name of Africa Health Research Organization, a non-profit making body that promotes the advancement of global health. The organization was founded in 1999 as Africa Health

Awareness Foundation but it was changed to the current name in 2008 after the founding director took part in the Durban HIV/AIDS Conference. The organization started functioning in Ghana with the commencement of its main journal Annals of Tropical Medicine & Public Health and the subsequent introduction of conferences. Among the Conferences organized during the early days of the organization were International HIV/AIDS Conference and the Antimalarial Agents International Conference. In 2019 in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the strategy of the organization was updated with training of health professionals becoming the central goal. The institute is engaged in research, postgraduate education, and global healthcare especially tropical diseases. The objectives of the organization is provide facilities for research, postgraduate teaching, training, investigate and treatment in global health especially tropical diseases. Currently, the organization is operating under the trading name AHRO University that governs all programs. The institute is also in advanced stage to own the AHRO Centres of Clinical Excellence across West Africa where advance researches are made in different facet of tropical disease. Aside several journals of international repute, the organization run the Africa Lens, a monthly health-related magazine. The organization also runs the AHRO TV, a channel dedicated to health issues.

AHRO Institute has officially launched an ambitious long-term revenue generation strategy aimed at raising £40 million over the next ten years to support the implementation of its transformative 'One Institute, Four Continents' Vision.'

The initiative seeks to establish AHRO Institute as a globally connected academic and research institution with educational, research, and innovation activities spanning **Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas**. The vision is designed to create a sustainable international platform for education, scientific research, professional development, innovation, and policy engagement that addresses pressing global challenges in health, science, technology, and sustainable development.

The Institute's revenue generation strategy is built upon a diversified and sustainable funding model comprising five major streams

1. Tuition Fees and Executive Education

AHRO Institute will expand its portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, professional short courses, executive education, and continuing professional development programmes. Flexible hybrid and digital learning approaches will enable the Institute to reach learners worldwide and generate significant educational revenue.

2. Academic Publishing and Knowledge Services

The Institute will strengthen its scholarly publishing activities through peer-reviewed journals, books, conference proceedings, digital publications, and scientific communication services. Academic publishing will serve both as a platform for global knowledge dissemination and an important source of institutional income.

3. Consultancy and Technical Advisory Services

Leveraging its multidisciplinary expertise, AHRO Institute will provide consultancy and technical assistance to governments, universities, healthcare organisations, development agencies, non-governmental organisations, and private-sector partners in areas including public health, infectious diseases, healthcare management, climate change and health, research capacity strengthening, digital health, monitoring and evaluation, and policy development.

Today marks a historic and defining moment in the journey of AHRO Institute as we proudly unveil our inaugural portfolio of academic programmes across four specialised schools: the School of Infectious Diseases, the School of Nursing and Midwifery, the School of Clinical Bioinformatics and Public Health, and the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

The establishment of these schools reflects our unwavering commitment to advancing excellence in education, research, innovation, and professional development in response to the rapidly evolving health challenges facing our world. It is with immense gratitude, humility, and optimism that I welcome you to this historic occasion as we officially launch the AHRO Institute Strategic Plan 2026–2036.

Today marks more than the unveiling of a strategic document. It marks the beginning of a transformative journey and the opening of a new chapter in the history of AHRO Institute. Across the world, leading academic and research institutions use strategic plans as roadmaps to guide growth, innovation, partnerships, and long-term impact.

When AHRO Institute was conceived, it was founded on a simple but powerful belief: that knowledge, innovation, and collaboration can transform lives, strengthen communities, and contribute to solving some of humanity's most pressing challenges. We envisioned an institution that would bridge research and practice, connect academia and policy, and empower individuals and organizations to create sustainable solutions for global development.

Today, that vision takes a significant step forward.

Our Strategic Plan for 2026–2036 provides a clear roadmap for the next ten years. It defines where we aspire to go, how we intend to get there, and how we will measure our success. Strategic planning is fundamentally about understanding where an institution stands today, where it wants to be in the future, and the actions required to bridge that gap.

I would like to acknowledge the dedication of everyone who contributed to the development of this Strategic Plan. Successful strategic plans are strengthened through stakeholder engagement and collective ownership.

I also wish to express my profound appreciation to our Academic Board, Advisory Board members especially my special asvisor Prof Pranab , partners, supporters, and the AHRO Institute team whose commitment and belief in our mission have brought us to this important milestone.

As we launch this Strategic Plan today, let us remember that the success of any strategy is not measured by the quality of the document itself but by the actions that follow. The true test begins now—in implementation, accountability, innovation, partnership, and impact. Institutions launching strategic plans consistently emphasize that implementation, rather than the document alone, determines success.

The next decade presents enormous opportunities. We are entering an era where science, technology, innovation, and global cooperation will shape the future more profoundly than ever before. AHRO Institute intends to be at the forefront of that transformation.

The AHRO Institute has officially announced the formation of its first Academic Board, marking a significant milestone in the Institute’s commitment to academic excellence, research innovation, and global collaboration.

The newly constituted Board currently comprises nine distinguished scholars and professionals from diverse academic and research backgrounds:
