✨ A Fresh New Look… Created Together! ✨

There is a real buzz of excitement throughout Florence House as our environmental improvement project continues to gather pace! 🏡💚

What makes these changes so special isn’t just the fresh décor, new colours or beautiful artwork, it’s the people behind them.

From our dedicated team members rolling up their sleeves, to our Directors supporting the vision, and most importantly, the people who live within our community helping to choose colours, pictures, furnishings and design ideas, this is a true collaboration. Every voice matters, and everyone has the opportunity to shape the place they call home.

We believe that creating a warm, welcoming and meaningful environment isn’t something we do for people, it’s something we create with them.

Watching ideas come to life and seeing pride, excitement and ownership grow with every improvement reminds us that the best environments are those built together.

We can’t wait to share more of the transformation with you over the coming weeks… watch this space! 💙

☀️ Florence House Summer Fête 2026 ☀️

What A Day💙

A heartfelt thank you to every single person who joined the Florence House Team for their Summer Fête and helped make it such an incredible success. Seeing our residents, families, friends, neighbours and the wider community come together in the glorious sunshine was truly something special.

From the sound of children laughing and playing, to the smell of burgers on the grill, the hunt for bargains, fantastic entertainment, magic, games, delicious home baking and wonderful conversations shared throughout the day, every corner of Florence House was filled with smiles, kindness and community spirit.

A very special thank you goes to our amazing team, volunteers, stallholders, our brilliant magician, everyone who donated prizes, and all those who gave their time, energy and generosity to make the day possible. Your support means more than words can say.

At Oakminster, we believe our care communities are places where life continues to be lived to the fullest, and days like today demonstrate exactly that. They create opportunities for people of all ages to come together, build friendships, make memories and celebrate what community is all about.

Thank you for making Florence House such a vibrant place to be. We hope you enjoyed the day as much as we did, and we already can’t wait to welcome you back next year! ☀️🎉

🏝️ Back to his old stomping ground… Rothesay with Andrew aka “God”❤️

Some places hold a lifetime of memories, and today God had the opportunity to revisit one of his favourite places, the beautiful Isle of Rothesay.

With the support of our incredible Florence House team and accompanied by one of his wonderful lifelong friend Joe, God enjoyed a day packed with everything that makes Rothesay feel like home. First stop was a visit to his favourite barber for a fresh haircut, followed by popping into his favourite local bar for a well-earned refreshment, and of course, no trip would have been complete without calling into the bookies to put a line on what he confidently described as a “dead cert!” 🤞🍀

A delicious lunch, a brand-new cap, and plenty of time wandering the familiar streets in the glorious sunshine completed a day full of laughter, stories and treasured memories.

The smiles shared throughout the day were a reminder that meaningful experiences don’t stop when someone moves into a care community. They continue, evolve and create new memories whilst celebrating the old ones.

Days like today are what person-led care is all about, supporting people to reconnect with the places, people and moments that matter most. It wasn’t just a day out; it was about identity, belonging, friendship and continuing to live the life that matters to you.

By the end of the day, God was already asking when he could go back… and we have a feeling it won’t be long! 💙

A heartfelt thank you to our amazing Florence House team for making this possible, and to God’s incredible friend for sharing such a special day together. Together, they reminded us that life still happens here, and that the best days are often spent revisiting the places that hold a lifetime of stories.

🚲💙 Life Still Happens Here. 💙🚲

There are moments that simply can’t be captured in words… but we’ll give it a go.

This week it was the turn of our wonderful residents from Florence House to enjoy another unforgettable adventure with Sunny Cycles at Glasgow Green.

The smiles said it all.

The wind in your hair.

The thrill of freewheeling down the hill.

The laughter echoing through the park.

For a few glorious moments, age disappeared and memories came rushing back of childhood bikes, teaching sons and daughters to ride, family adventures and the simple joy of feeling free.

These aren’t just bike rides.

They’re opportunities to reconnect with identity, rekindle memories, experience exhilaration and simply enjoy being outdoors with friends.

One resident summed it up perfectly…

“Pure dead brilliant!”

We couldn’t agree more.

These sessions are also a wonderful opportunity for our Managers and Directors to step away from their desks and spend meaningful time alongside the people who live within our communities, helping to create the very best experiences together. After all, leadership is at its best when it’s shared in the moments that matter most.

A huge heartfelt thank you once again to Carol and her incredible army of volunteers at Sunny Cycles. Your passion, kindness and dedication make experiences like this possible, creating memories that will be talked about long after the wheels have stopped turning.
