🧲 MRI Safety Week

This week is MRI Safety Week, a global initiative that promotes best practice, staff education and awareness of safety within the MRI environment.

MRI is an invaluable diagnostic tool and is often considered one of the safest imaging modalities, as it does not use ionising radiation. However, the powerful magnetic fields used during scanning mean there are important safety considerations for both patients and healthcare professionals.

At Nuffield Health Glasgow Hospital, our MRI team carries out thorough screening before every scan. Information about previous surgeries, medical devices and implants helps us determine the safest approach for each patient and ensures scans are performed as safely as possible.

👋 Introducing Mr Iain McGraw, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon

We’re delighted to welcome Mr Iain McGraw to our consultant team at Nuffield Health Glasgow Hospital.

Mr McGraw is a Consultant Hand and Orthopaedic Trauma Surgeon with extensive experience in diagnosing and treating a wide range of hand, wrist and elbow conditions. Known for his calm and reassuring approach, he takes the time to ensure every patient fully understands their options before any treatment is considered.

His clinical expertise includes:

• Hand and wrist surgery
• Elbow surgery
• Orthopaedic trauma and injury management
• Peripheral nerve surgery and image-guided joint injections

Mr McGraw has undertaken specialist fellowship training in hand surgery, including international experience in the USA. He is also one of a small number of surgeons in Scotland to hold the Diploma in Hand Surgery.

His appointment further strengthens our orthopaedic service, particularly in the area of hand and wrist surgery.

🎉 £2963 raised - thank you so much 🎉

We are incredibly proud to share that our Kiltwalk Big Stroll fundraiser has now closed, with a final total of £2963 raised for St Margaret of Scotland Hospice.

This was a truly meaningful walk for our team, taking part in memory of Professor Adrian Brady, a much‑loved consultant cardiologist and long‑standing member of our hospital community.

Thank you to everyone who donated, shared our page and supported us along the way. Your generosity and encouragement have made a real difference and will help support the hospice’s compassionate care for patients and families when it matters most.

This year’s theme, “Action saves lives” is a great reminder that small, everyday actions done at the right moments, can make a big difference when it comes to preventing infection and keeping people safe.
