MYTH: You have to start with purées.

One of the biggest questions parents have when starting solids is “Am I doing this right?” — and when it comes to how you introduce food, there isn’t just one right way. ❤️

You can offer purées, soft finger foods, or a combination of both. What matters most is that your baby is developmentally ready, foods are prepared safely, and you follow your baby’s cues as they learn to eat.

Weaning doesn’t have to be all-or-nothing. You can find an approach that works for you and your baby.

And remember, starting solids is about so much more than just getting food into their tummy — it’s about learning, exploring new tastes and textures, and building confidence around food. 🥑

Save this for when you’re getting ready to start solids, and send it to a parent who might need the reassurance!

Swaddling can be a lovely way to help some newborns feel calm and settled — but there are a few important safety points every parent should know. 🤍

If you choose to swaddle your baby:

✨ Always place them on their back to sleep
✨ Keep their head and face uncovered
✨ Make sure the swaddle is snug around the chest, but not tight
✨ Allow plenty of room for their hips and legs to move
✨ Avoid weighted swaddles and overheating

And the big one…

As soon as your baby starts showing signs that they are trying to roll, it’s time to stop swaddling.

You don’t need to wait until they actually roll. Once they’re showing those signs, transition to an arms-free sleep bag instead.

There is so much information to take in when you have a new baby, and safe sleep can sometimes feel overwhelming. My aim is to make those little safety decisions feel a bit clearer. ❤️

Starting solids can feel like a LOT. 😅

When should I start?
Is my baby ready?
What foods should I offer first?
Baby-led weaning or spoon feeding?
What about allergens?
How do I know the difference between gagging and choking?
What foods should I avoid?
And… am I actually doing this right?! 🤯

The good news? You don’t have to figure it all out alone. ❤️

Our Weaning + Infant CPR & Choking Workshop is a little different.

Yes, we’ll cover all those weaning questions — but we don’t stop there.

At the end of the workshop, you’ll take part in a full, hands-on infant CPR and choking session, giving you the opportunity to practise the skills that could one day make a real difference in an emergency.

And you’ll leave with:

📖 A comprehensive PDF guide to refer back to at home
🎁 Exclusive discounts from our workshop partners
❤️ Practical, hands-on CPR & choking experience
🧠 The knowledge and confidence to approach starting solids feeling more prepared

📅 5 October | 10:30am–12:30pm

Can’t make October?

Our next weekend date — and the final Weaning + CPR workshop of 2026 — will be announced very soon.

💌 DM “WEANING” for more information or to be added to the waitlist so you’re the first to know when the new date is released.

Because starting solids is exciting enough without feeling like you have to Google your way through it all. ❤️

A child dies in the UK every month from choking.

And hundreds more require hospital treatment.

Choking can happen incredibly quickly. A piece of food. A small toy. Something that was never expected to be dangerous.

And when it happens, there may not be time to Google what to do.

Knowing how to recognise choking — and knowing how to respond — could make all the difference.

❤️ Learn infant & child CPR and choking first aid.
Because you hope you’ll never need these skills. But if you do, you’ll be glad you have them.

If you have a new baby, there are already a million things to think about. CPR and choking might not be at the top of your list — but knowing what to do before you need to know can make all the difference.

At my Infant & Child CPR + Choking Workshop, we’ll talk through what to do if your baby or child is choking or stops breathing, and you’ll have the opportunity to practise the skills yourself so you can leave knowing exactly what you would do.

No experience needed. No judgement. Just a chance to learn something that you’ll hopefully never have to use — but will be incredibly glad you know if you ever do.

And if you’re wondering whether you can bring your little one… absolutely. 🥰

👃 Your child has a nosebleed… would you know what to do?

Nosebleeds can look scary, but knowing what to do can make the situation feel much more manageable.

Remember:

👇 FORWARD — Sit your child upright and lean them slightly forward.

👃 PINCH — Firmly pinch the soft part of their nose, just below the bony bridge.

⏱️ HOLD — Keep continuous pressure for 10–15 minutes. Try not to let go to check if it has stopped.

And remember — don’t tilt their head backwards.

Save this post so you have these simple steps to hand if you ever need them. ❤️
