Being in my thirties has taught me that health isn’t all about being perfect.

As a nutritional therapist, I used to think that doing everything ‘right’ was the answer, I’ve learnt that real health looks a little different for most people.

Let’s eat veggies cause they make you feel good, not because you ‘have to’.

Rest is just as important as your work out - let go hard with our rest! And I’m not talking about scrolling on our phones 👀

It’s okay to enjoy birthday cake, the holiday meals or the dinners out.

Health should fit around your life not become your life

Your body doesn’t need perfection. It needs nourishment, movement, sleep, joy and a little self compassion.

Here’s to building strong bodies 🥂

If you’re sweating a lot it’s always important to top up your electrolytes!

Coconut water
Squeeze of lemon or lime
Pinch of salt
I added carrot and beetroot juice which is optional but you can also add other ingredients like watermelon or a splash of orange juice!

POV: you move to Spain so your lifestyle matches your diet 💃💃💃

Health isn’t just about what we eat.

As a nutritional therapist, I’ll always believe that good nutrition matters.
But it’s only one piece of the puzzle.
Movement. Rest. Joy. Time to slow down. Moments that remind you to enjoy your body, not just optimise it.

Spending the next few months in Spain feels like the perfect opportunity to embrace all of that and I’m looking forward to sharing a little of the journey with you.

What’s one thing you do that makes you feel genuinely healthy, beyond food?

Every time it got warm I used to constantly be bloated which mad everything horrible and uncomfortable.

Feeling more bloated in hot weather? You’re not imagining it. Heat can cause your blood vessels to widen, making it easier for fluid to move into surrounding tissues, which can contribute to temporary water retention. Hot weather may also affect digestion and hydration, leaving you feeling more uncomfortable.

Here are five evidence-based tips that may help:

1️⃣ Stay well hydrated 💧
When you’re dehydrated, your body is more likely to retain water. Drinking enough fluids throughout the day supports normal fluid balance and digestion.

2️⃣ Replace electrolytes if you’ve been sweating a lot 🥥
If you’ve lost a lot of fluid through sweating, replacing electrolytes—particularly sodium and potassium—can help maintain normal hydration and fluid balance. Water alone isn’t always enough after prolonged sweating.

3️⃣ Go easy on salty, ultra-processed foods 🧂
A diet high in sodium can increase water retention in some people, especially if you’re also dehydrated.

4️⃣ Eat water-rich foods 🍉🥒
Foods like watermelon, cucumber, strawberries and lettuce have a high water content, helping you stay hydrated while also providing fibre to support healthy digestion.

5️⃣ Take a walk after meals 🚶‍♀️
Even 10–15 minutes of light movement after eating can help stimulate digestion, reduce gas build-up and ease feelings of bloating.

If your bloating is persistent, severe, painful or unrelated to hot weather, get it touch using the link in my bio.

Save this post for the next heat wave, and share it with someone who always feels bloated in the summer. ☀️
