Wendy has been a very special part of Fire & Peace for a number of years, and during that time we have had the privilege of watching her grow, change and transform.

She has done an extraordinary amount of work on herself to get to where she is today.

There is nobody more deserving of a place within the Fire & Peace team, and we feel very lucky to have her alongside us as she begins this next chapter.

Minibus and trailer loaded up with hopefully everything we need unless I’ve done my usual and forgotten something. Regardless of what I forget I’ll be sure to bring my heart, soul and spirit and mind. I will also add a touch of my charisma and charm which always turns up as I can’t seem to control that and I never want to it’s who I am and who I always will be. For that matter I will never change.
Can’t wait to meet all of these truly remarkable newcomers. I consider myself a very blessed man to share such sacred space with such inspiring and beautiful wisdom. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of something very special 🙏❤️🔥🕊️

“No one gets me. No one understands me.”
And you know what?
It’s true.
No one will ever fully understand me. Just as I will never fully understand another human being.
How could we?
No one else has lived inside my mind, carried my memories, felt my pain, my fear, my joy or walked every step that brought me here.
The only person who can truly get to know me is me.
And that takes work. Real hard work but absolutely necessary.
Gentleness. Courage. Compassion. Kindness. Strength. Love. All fundamentals of getting to know myself. Without these there is no me!
We need to stop asking:
“Why doesn’t anyone understand me?”
And start asking:
“Do I understand myself?”
Start by accepting that “no one will ever get you”

It’s you and you alone who needs to take complete ownership and accountability for all of your actions.
If you’re feeling constantly triggered and overwhelmed maybe it’s time rethink your current situation and relationships.
People come into our life sometimes for what we think will be forever but maybe think of it more as passengers on a train. They get on board then they leave. You got the knowledge and experience that you needed from them and as harsh as life is we need to think of what value is it now adding to my life?

Finding moments of joy in the middle of deep sadness is not something we can simply switch on.
Sometimes we have to dig incredibly deep into our hearts to find them.
Sadness is real. Pain is real. But, like every emotion, it moves through us. We do not have to deny it, fight it or pretend it isn’t there.
Acceptance is part of healing.
There is a difference between living with pain and suffering inside it.
We can carry sadness and still allow ourselves to smile.
We can grieve and still feel warmth.
We can hurt and still notice something beautiful.
We can miss someone deeply and still choose to live.
Finding joy does not mean the sadness has gone.
It simply means we are allowing our hearts to hold both.
And sometimes, choosing to let a little happiness in is one of the bravest things we can do.

Two years ago, The Guardian came along to see what a Fire & Peace trip really looks like.

Getting away from the noise.
Getting into nature.
Creating space to breathe, reconnect and be around people who understand.
And discovering that recovery can happen in places and ways you might never have imagined.

These trips are about so much more than getting outdoors. They’re about connection, belonging, trust, challenge and hope — and showing people in recovery that life can be different.

This video is a beautiful snapshot of the work Gerry and the Fire & Peace team have been doing for years, taking people into nature and creating experiences that can stay with them long after the trip ends.

Two years on, the purpose remains the same. ❤️
