ABOUT ME.
ACUPUNCTURE.
My previous background in working with older people and people with special needs developed my interest in complementary and alternative approaches to health and the link between mental and physical wellbeing.
I have always been fascinated by links between the mind and body and have studied many different approaches, including meditation, Tai Chi, Qi Gong.
I qualified from the Northern College of Acupuncture in York in 2000 having obtained a 4 year diploma in Traditional Chinese Medicine and a Master of Science Degree for which I studied the effects of acupuncture on Post Natal Depression.
I also have qualifications in both Swedish and Acupressure massage which I often incorporate within treatments or they can be booked as separate sessions as can the Counselling.
I have worked in various settings over the years.
Within a GP surgery where I treated mainly menstrual, menopause, headaches and anxiety, depression.
A holistic clinic treating a wide range of conditions including asthma, hay-fever, digestive issues, general aches and pains.
A sports centre/ rugby club treating muscular/skeletal conditions and sports issues alongside a physiotherapist and chiropractor.
Home visits.Whilst bringing up my family my practice developed into offering home visits. It was a flexible approach to working which led to my treating more complex, chronic conditions in people who had difficulty coming to a clinic. These conditions included Parkinsons, multiple sclerosis, shingles, agoraphobia, chronic pain.
I have often treated women alongside IVF and during pregnancy. I have been present at a number of births to assist with pain relief etc. Both my daughters were born at home and I had acupuncture for pain relief alongside midwife assistance.
I also worked at the Northern College of Acupuncture in York as a tutor and locum clinic supervisor within the teaching clinic.
I relocated from York to Glastonbury in August 2025 and after converting the garage now work from a peaceful clinic room adjacent to my home. Home visits are available locally.
I have learnt so much from all the places I have worked and the wonderful people I have treated.
Continuing to learn and develop my acupuncture practice is very important to me, I feel this is reflected in the way I work and the feedback I receive.
People often come for treatment at a low ebb or feeling unheard regarding their health and symptoms. My counselling training helps me to truly listen which is a very valuable tool and can aid recovery
A comprehensive list of conditions treated with acupuncture and research supporting these conditions can be found on the British Acupuncture Council website.
