Let’s Decipher The Chariot (VII)

“Victory is not found in controlling the road ahead, but in learning to master the direction of your own life.”

The Fool has reached a turning point.

He has learned from teachers, discovered love, explored his values, and begun to understand who he is.

Now comes the challenge of moving forward.

The Chariot is a card of determination, focus, discipline, and purposeful action.
It reminds us that life will always present obstacles, distractions, and opposing forces.

The question isn’t whether these challenges exist.

The question is whether we have the strength to remain true to our chosen path.

The Chariot teaches us that success isn’t simply about reaching the destination.

It’s about becoming the person capable of making the journey.

When this card appears, ask yourself:

“What direction am I choosing, and do I have the courage to stay the course?”

Symbolism

The Chariot

The chariot itself represents the vehicle that carries us through life’s journey.

It isn’t simply transportation.

It symbolises our physical body, our mind, and the choices that move us towards our goals.

The question becomes:

Who is holding the reins of your life?

The Black and White Sphinxes

Instead of horses, The Chariot is pulled by a black sphinx and a white sphinx.

They represent opposing forces.

Light and shadow.

Logic and emotion.

Action and reflection.

Fear and courage.

Notice something important.

There are no visible reins.

The Charioteer guides them through strength of mind and clarity of purpose.

This teaches us that true mastery comes from inner discipline rather than external control.

The Charioteer

The Charioteer stands tall and focused.

He looks directly ahead.

He isn’t distracted by the past or anxious about the future.

His attention remains fixed on where he wishes to go.

His greatest strength is unwavering focus.

The Armour

The Charioteer wears armour decorated with crescent moons.

This reminds us that strength and sensitivity can exist together.

Protecting ourselves doesn’t mean closing our hearts.

It means knowing when to stand firm and when to remain open.

The Star Crown

Upon his head rests a crown adorned with stars.

The stars symbolise divine guidance and higher purpose.

His journey isn’t driven by ego.

It is guided by something greater.

The Square on His Chest

A square appears upon his chest.

Squares represent stability, structure, balance, and the physical world.

His heart is grounded.

His ambitions are supported by strong foundations.

The Wand

He carries a wand rather than a weapon.

The wand represents personal power, manifestation, and conscious direction.

He doesn’t conquer through force.

He leads through intention.

The City Behind Him

Behind The Charioteer lies a city.

It represents safety, familiarity, and everything he already knows.

His journey requires him to leave comfort behind in pursuit of growth.

The Canopy of Stars

Above him stretches a canopy decorated with stars.

This reminds us that although we steer our own lives, we are always part of something much greater.

Purpose connects earthly action with spiritual guidance.

Hidden Symbols

One of the most fascinating details is the absence of reins.

The sphinxes move because they trust the driver’s focus.

This teaches us that our thoughts, beliefs, and intentions often shape our direction more powerfully than force ever could.

Another overlooked detail is that the sphinxes face slightly different directions.

Without clear intention they would naturally pull apart.

Only focused purpose keeps them moving together.

Did You Notice?

The Charioteer doesn’t hold a sword.

He carries a wand.

This reminds us that lasting victories are achieved through wisdom, self-belief, and focused intention rather than domination or conflict.

Colours

Blue – Determination, truth, emotional wisdom.

Gold – Achievement, confidence, higher purpose.

Black & White – Balance between opposing forces.

Silver – Intuition and inner guidance.

Together they remind us that success comes from balancing both heart and mind.

Numerology

The Chariot is numbered VII (7).

Seven represents spiritual growth, inner wisdom, self-discovery, and determination.

It is the number of seeking deeper meaning.

The Chariot teaches us that true victory begins within.

Astrology & Planetary Influence

The Chariot is associated with Cancer.

Cancer is deeply connected to emotional intelligence, protection, determination, and resilience.

Like the crab, Cancer may move sideways at times, but it never loses sight of where it truly belongs.

The Chariot reminds us that emotional strength is just as important as physical determination.

Mythology & Archetype

The Charioteer appears throughout mythology.

He echoes Apollo, driving the chariot of the sun across the heavens each day with purpose and precision.

He also reflects the archetype of the spiritual warrior—not one who fights others, but one who overcomes fear, doubt, and limitation.

The greatest battle is often the one within ourselves.

The Chariot in Readings

Love

A relationship may require both people to move in the same direction. Honest communication, shared goals, and mutual commitment create lasting progress.

Career

Success is within reach, but it will require focus, discipline, and perseverance. Stay committed to your long-term vision rather than becoming distracted by short-term setbacks.

Spirituality

Your spiritual journey is gaining momentum. Trust your inner guidance and continue moving forward, even if the destination is not yet fully visible.

Health

Consistency is more powerful than intensity. Small, disciplined habits practised daily often create the greatest transformation.

Shadow Work

Ask yourself:

* What distractions are pulling me away from my goals?
* Am I trying to control everything instead of trusting the journey?
* What opposing forces within me need to work together?
* Where do I need greater self-discipline?

Meditation

Close your eyes and imagine yourself standing within The Chariot.

Before you sit two sphinxes.

One represents fear.

The other represents courage.

Take hold of your inner strength and guide them forward together.

As the chariot begins to move, notice how focused intention creates effortless momentum.

Ask yourself:

“What destination is my soul leading me towards?”

Journal Prompts

* What goal deserves my complete focus?
* What habits support my success?
* Where have I allowed distractions to slow my progress?
* What does true victory mean to me?

Crystal, Herb & Essential Oil

Crystal: Tiger’s Eye – confidence, courage, focus, determination.

Herb: Rosemary – clarity, resilience, mental strength.

Essential Oil: Black Pepper – motivation, courage, perseverance.

Affirmation

“I move forward with confidence, purpose, and determination. I trust my inner strength to guide me through every challenge, knowing that true victory begins within.”

If This Card Could Speak…

“Do not fear the road ahead.

Every journey has twists, obstacles, and moments of uncertainty.

Keep your eyes on your purpose.

Balance your heart with your mind.

Trust your direction.

The greatest victories are not over other people.

They are over the doubts that once held you back.”

Tea Leaves & Tarot Reflection

Life has a way of pulling us in different directions.

Responsibilities compete with dreams.

Fear competes with hope.

Comfort competes with growth.

The Chariot reminds us that success isn’t about removing every obstacle from our path.

It’s about choosing which direction deserves our energy.

When we stop allowing fear and doubt to pull us apart, we begin moving with purpose.

Progress isn’t always fast.

Sometimes it’s quiet.

Sometimes it’s simply refusing to give up.

Keep going.

Your destination is shaped not by how quickly you travel, but by your willingness to stay true to your path.

Reflection

Ask yourself:

* What am I determined to achieve?
* Where am I allowing distractions to take control?
* How can I better align my thoughts, emotions, and actions?

Final Thought

The road ahead may not always be smooth, but every challenge has the power to strengthen your character. When your heart, mind, and spirit move in the same direction, nothing can truly stand in your way.
Success is not simply reaching the destination, it is becoming the person you were meant to be along the journey.

Let’s Decipher The Lovers (VI)

“Every choice you make shapes the person you become. Choose not from fear, but from love and truth.”

The Fool has taken his first courageous steps.

He has discovered his abilities through The Magician, learned to trust his intuition with The High Priestess, experienced the nurturing abundance of The Empress, built strong foundations with The Emperor, and gathered wisdom from The Hierophant.

Now comes one of life’s greatest lessons.

Choice.

The Lovers is often mistaken as simply a card of romance, yet its message reaches far beyond relationships.

It is the card of alignment.

It asks us whether our thoughts, words, actions, and values are working together or pulling us in different directions.

Every choice we make, however small, becomes another thread in the story of our lives.

When this card appears, it gently asks:

“Are you choosing the life your soul desires… or the one your fears have created?”

Symbolism

The Angel Raphael

High above Adam and Eve stands the Archangel Raphael.

His name means “God Heals.”

Raphael represents healing, divine guidance, truth, and protection.

His blessing reminds us that love, in all its forms, has the power to heal.

He watches over the choices we make, encouraging us to choose with compassion rather than fear.

The Sun

The bright sun shines behind Raphael.

The sun symbolises truth, clarity, life, warmth, and spiritual illumination.

Nothing is hidden in its light.

The Lovers reminds us that genuine love thrives in honesty.

Secrets cannot flourish where truth shines brightly.

Adam

Adam represents conscious awareness.

Logic.

Action.

The masculine principle.

He looks towards Eve.

His attention is focused upon relationship and connection.

Eve

Eve represents intuition, emotion, receptivity, and the subconscious.

She gazes upward towards Raphael rather than towards Adam.

Her gaze reminds us that our intuition often receives guidance before our logical mind understands it.

The Tree of Knowledge

Behind Eve stands the Tree of Knowledge bearing fruit.

Coiled around its trunk is the serpent.

The tree represents wisdom gained through experience.

The serpent represents temptation, transformation, and the awakening of consciousness.

Knowledge itself is neither good nor bad.

What matters is how we use it.

The Tree of Life

Behind Adam burns twelve flames upon another tree.

This is often interpreted as the Tree of Life.

The flames represent passion, divine inspiration, and the twelve signs of the zodiac.

Life itself is sacred.

Every experience contributes to our growth.

The Mountain

Standing between Adam and Eve is a mountain.

Mountains symbolise challenges, higher understanding, and the journey towards spiritual growth.

Even in loving relationships, there are obstacles to overcome.

The mountain reminds us that true connection requires effort, patience, and commitment.

The Green Landscape

The lush green landscape represents growth, hope, abundance, and new beginnings.

Love flourishes where trust is nurtured.

Their Nakedness

Adam and Eve stand without clothing.

This isn’t about vulnerability in a physical sense.

It symbolises honesty.

Authenticity.

Nothing is hidden.

Nothing is disguised.

The Lovers teaches us that genuine connection begins when we allow ourselves to be truly seen.

Hidden Symbols

One of the most overlooked details is the direction of their gaze.

Adam looks towards Eve.

Eve looks towards Raphael.

Raphael looks over them both.

The symbolism is profound.

The conscious mind seeks connection.

The intuitive heart seeks divine wisdom.

True harmony is found when both work together.

Notice too that Adam and Eve are separate individuals.

They are not merged into one.

The Lovers teaches us that healthy relationships honour individuality while creating unity.

Did You Notice?

Look at the space between Adam and Eve.

It is not empty.

It is filled by the mountain.

This reminds us that every meaningful relationship, whether with another person or with ourselves requires us to climb together through life’s challenges.

Love isn’t measured by the absence of obstacles.

It’s revealed by how we face them.

Colours

Red – Passion, life force, courage.

Green – Growth, healing, abundance.

Blue – Truth, trust, communication.

Gold – Divine guidance and spiritual awareness.

The colours remind us that love grows strongest when passion, honesty, and wisdom exist together.

Numerology

The Lovers is numbered VI (6).

Six represents harmony, balance, compassion, responsibility, and unconditional love.

It asks us to create balance between ourselves and others.

Between giving and receiving.

Between heart and mind.

Astrology & Planetary Influence

The Lovers is associated with Gemini.

Gemini represents communication, curiosity, duality, relationships, and conscious choice.

Like Gemini, this card reminds us that every decision shapes our future.

Communication remains at the heart of every meaningful relationship.

Mythology & Archetype

The Lovers appears in many traditions.

Adam and Eve represent innocence, free will, and the choices that shape humanity.

It also echoes the myth of Eros and Psyche, where love grows through trust, challenge, and transformation.

Across cultures, this archetype reminds us that love is not simply an emotion.

It is a choice made again and again.

The Lovers in Readings

Love

The Lovers often represents deep connection, trust, commitment, and honest communication. It may indicate a soulmate relationship, a meaningful partnership, or an important decision about love.

Career

A significant choice may be approaching. Consider whether your work reflects your values and brings genuine fulfilment rather than simply security.

Spirituality

Alignment is key. Live according to your beliefs, not just your intentions. Spiritual growth comes when your actions match your inner truth.

Health

Balance is essential. Caring for your emotional wellbeing is just as important as caring for your physical health.

Shadow Work

Ask yourself:

* Am I making choices from love or fear?
* Where in my life am I out of alignment?
* What values matter most to me?
* Am I being honest with myself?

Meditation

Imagine standing at the foot of a mountain.

Raphael appears beside you.

He asks only one question:

“What choice would your highest self make?”

Allow the answer to arise without judgement.

Trust your heart before your fear.

Journal Prompts

* What does love truly mean to me?
* Which relationships help me become my best self?
* Where am I compromising my values?
* What choice have I been avoiding?

Crystal, Herb & Essential Oil

Crystal: Emerald – unconditional love, compassion, harmony.

Herb: Rose – love, emotional healing, connection.

Essential Oil: Ylang Ylang – balance, love, emotional openness.

Affirmation

“I choose love over fear. My decisions reflect my highest values, and I trust my heart to guide me towards authentic connection.”

If This Card Could Speak…

“Love is not only something you find.

It is something you choose.

Choose honesty.

Choose kindness.

Choose courage.

Choose the path that allows you to become more fully yourself.

Every choice you make becomes another step on your journey.

Choose well.”

Tea Leaves & Tarot Reflection

When we hear the word “love,” our minds often think first of romance.

Yet The Lovers asks us to look more deeply.

Do you love the life you’re creating?

Do you honour your own values?

Do you speak to yourself with the same kindness you offer others?

The longest relationship you will ever have is the one you have with yourself.

When that relationship is built on honesty, compassion, and self-respect, every other relationship has the opportunity to flourish.

The Lovers reminds us that every decision is an act of love or an act of fear.

The choice is ours.

Reflection

Ask yourself:

* What choice is my heart asking me to make?
* Do my daily actions reflect my deepest values?
* Where can I create greater harmony within myself and my relationships?

Final Thought

Love is more than a feeling, it is a decision, a practice, and a reflection of the values we choose to live by.
Every choice made with honesty, courage, and compassion becomes another step towards the person your soul is destined to become.

🕊️ What Love Leaves Behind 🕊️

Today was a day of many emotions.

I had the honour of conducting my first funeral as a celebrant, holding a beautiful celebration of life for the brother of a very dear friend.

To be entrusted by a family to help tell the story of someone they loved, to gather their memories, their laughter, their sadness and their love, and weave those into a ceremony that truly reflects their life, is something I will never take for granted.

But today also carried another layer of emotion for me.

It was a day when I was already remembering my own mum 6 years to the day of her passing.

Grief has a way of doing that.
It doesn’t always arrive when we expect it. Sometimes it sits quietly beside us, and sometimes something as simple as a word, a song, a memory or a familiar feeling opens the door again.

Today reminded me that grief isn’t something we simply leave behind.
We learn to carry it.

The family chose a beautiful poem for today’s service, “What Love Leaves Behind.” Its words spoke so beautifully about the reality of loss — the silence, the ache, the memories and, most importantly, the love that remains.

What grief really is.

Love that has nowhere physical to go.

The tears, the memories, the stories we tell, the moments when we still reach for someone who isn’t there — they are all reminders of a bond that mattered.

Today I was there to honour someone else’s life, while quietly carrying the memory of someone I loved and lost myself.

And perhaps that made me understand even more deeply what a privilege it is to sit with families during these moments.

There is no perfect way to grieve.
There is no timetable.
And there is no need to apologise for the tears.

We grieve because we loved.

And when the ceremony ends and everyone goes home, the love doesn’t end with it.

It remains.

In the stories we tell.
In the laughter we remember.
In the lessons they left us.
And in the hearts of everyone whose life they touched.

Today was difficult.
Today was emotional.
But today was also an honour.

Thank you to the family for trusting me to help celebrate his life and say goodbye.

And to my own mum, who was very much in my thoughts today, I carried a little piece of you with me and wore my ring with your lock of hair 🤍

“For those who gave our hearts a home
remain a part of us forever.”
