🚨Do you have a loved one currently in hospital? 🚨
One of the things I'm most passionate about as a physiotherapist is preventing **deconditioning** in hospital.
It doesn't take long for strength, mobility and confidence to decline when someone is confined to a hospital bed. Even a short hospital stay can have a significant impact on recovery.
Why is preventing deconditioning so important?
• 💪 Helps maintain muscle strength and endurance.
• 🚶 Preserves mobility and independence.
• ⚖️ Reduces the risk of balance problems and falls.
• 🏡 Makes the transition from hospital to home much smoother.
• ❤️ Improves confidence and supports a faster recovery after discharge.
• 😊 Helps people return to the activities that matter most to them.
Early movement and rehabilitation, where appropriate, can make a huge difference. Every step, every sit-to-stand and every exercise session contributes towards maintaining function and preventing unnecessary decline.
Helping people maintain their strength, confidence and independence throughout their hospital journey is something I am incredibly passionate about.
**Please remember:** Every patient's situation is different. If you are currently in hospital, always speak to your doctor, nurse or physiotherapist before starting any exercises or increasing your activity levels to ensure it is safe and appropriate for you.
