rch 2014. Matt is a fully qualified Optician having 28 years of sight testing experience to call on. Having previously worked with resident Optician Kim Burton, he is keen to work alongside Kim again and with the existing team build on the already high standards. Robert is a fully qualified Dispensing Optician with thirty plus years of experience in Optometry both working in and running practices. He currently owns and runs the largest Independent Opticians in the UK, DI Blow, and it is fantastic to have him on board. The wealth of knowledge and practical experience that he brings to Jacksons will literally be second to none. We aim to provide the best patient experience from the moment you walk in, through your sight test to the dispensing of your spectacles and aftercare. Excellent customer service is our main aim, we want you to be happy with your visit and we want you to return! We will be improving the choice of frames, lenses and contact lenses already available and would welcome comments about any particular brands you would like to see. ❌ MYTH: Eating lots of carrots will dramatically improve your eyesight.

✅ FACT: Carrots are rich in vitamin A, which plays an important role in maintaining healthy eyes and supporting vision. However, they won't correct short-sightedness, long-sightedness, astigmatism, or other existing eye conditions. The best approach to protecting your eyesight is a balanced diet and regular eye tests.

🥕 Looking after your eye health starts with regular eye tests.

For most adults, it's recommended to have an eye test every 2 years, even if your vision seems fine. Routine eye examinations can help detect vision changes and identify eye health issues early.

You may need more frequent eye tests if:

👶 Children under 16 – Annual eye tests help monitor healthy visual development.

👴 Adults aged 70+ – Annual eye tests are recommended to check for age-related eye conditions.

👓 Existing eye conditions or diabetes – Follow your optician's advice on how often you should be seen.

👀 Sudden changes in vision – Blurred vision, discomfort, flashes, floaters, or other changes should be assessed as soon as possible.
