😴 SEPTEMBER RESET FAQ — WHAT CAN HELP WITH SLEEP?
A few people have mentioned that sleep is one of the things they really want to work on this month.
And I think the first thing to say is…
You do not have to suddenly go from 5½ hours to a perfect 8 hours overnight.
If you normally get 5½ hours and you manage 6… that’s a win.
If you get an extra 30–45 minutes… that’s progress.
If you wake up feeling a little more rested… count it.
We’re looking for improvements, not perfection. ❤️
So, what can actually help?
😴 Try to keep a fairly regular sleep and wake time, our bodies like routine.
📱 Give yourself a bit of phone-free time before bed. Not just because of the light from the screen, but because scrolling keeps our brains switched on when we’re trying to wind down.
☕ Have a look at your caffeine. If sleep is poor, try cutting back later in the day and see if it makes a difference.
🛁 Try a warm bath or shower before bed. It can be a really simple way of helping the body start to relax.
🌙 Make your bedroom work for sleep — dark, quiet and comfortably cool if you can.
📖 Find your own wind-down routine. Reading, relaxing music, stretching, a brew, whatever tells your brain: right, we’re done for today.
🌿 Lavender? There is some evidence that lavender/aromatherapy may help with sleep quality, so if you like the smell, a pillow spray or diffuser could be something to try. I’ve never tried it myself, so I might be experimenting with you on that one. 😂
And probably the biggest one…
Don’t put yourself under pressure to sleep.
We’re just trying to create better conditions for it and see what works for us.
So if you’re working on your sleep this month, don’t only celebrate hitting 7–8 hours.
Celebrate the extra half hour. Celebrate going to bed earlier. Celebrate putting the phone down.
They’re all little wins. ⭐❤️
