Wednesday Pamper Day!

Wednesday means one thing here at Brunswick House… Pamper Day! 💇‍♀️✨

Our lovely hairdresser was in today to glam us all up and make everyone look and feel their very best. And today, the gentlemen were first in line! 😄✂️ They couldn’t wait for a tidy-up and a little bit of pampering. After all, pampering isn’t just for the ladies! 💙

After lunch, we were delighted to welcome the lovely Ruth from Parkinson’s UK who came in to talk to us about Parkinson’s. It was such an interesting and eye-opening session, giving us a greater understanding of Parkinson’s and how it can affect people in different ways.

A huge thank you to Ruth for spending time with us and sharing your knowledge. We really appreciated it and are already looking forward to welcoming you back! ❤️

Next time, we’re hoping to make it a wider family information session, giving our residents’ families and friends the opportunity to come along, learn more and ask questions too. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

🔵🔴 Boccia Battle at Brunswick House! 🔴🔵

Beginning of the month means one thing… Darren is here for Boccia! 🎯🙌

The Blue Team got off to a flying start and quickly built up a massive lead over the Red Team, taking the win in the first set.

But the second set was a completely different story! 😮 It was tense, competitive and very close, with both teams scrambling to get that all-important lead. There were some great throws, plenty of tactical thinking and lots of encouragement from everyone!

After a VERY tense game, it was the Blue Team who came out on top and took the overall win! 🔵🎉 But we have to give it to the Red Team — they certainly put up a good fight! 🔴👏

We really do love our Boccia sessions, and the tactics that are starting to come into play are fantastic to watch. Everyone is getting more competitive and thinking about their next move…

At this rate, before you know it, we’ll be ready to enter a league! 😂🏆

Teamwork, patience... and a brilliant result! 🤖

Over the last couple of days, Morgan has been spending some one-to-one time with George, working together to build a remote-control robot.

It wasn't all plain sailing, and there were a few tweaks and adjustments along the way, but they didn't give up. Their patience and teamwork paid off, and they were thrilled when they finally got it up and running! 🚗✨

George was so proud of what they had achieved together that he couldn't wait to show it off to everyone around the home. Seeing his smile and sense of accomplishment made all the hard work worthwhile.

A huge well done to both Morgan and George – what a fantastic achievement! We love seeing our residents enjoying new challenges, learning new skills, and having fun along the way.

Friday can only mean one thing... and it's not just Fish & Chips Day! 🐟🍟

It's Music & Movement with the wonderful Sue – one of our absolute favourite sessions of the week! 💃🎤

As always, Sue had us all up on our feet (or dancing in our chairs!), singing at the top of our voices, enjoying a lively game of balloon tennis, and giving our instruments a good shake. There was so much laughter, energy, and fun that before we knew it, we'd all had a fantastic workout without even realising it!

Just when we thought we'd earned a well-deserved rest... it was straight into lunch for everyone's favourite Friday treat – fish and chips! 😋🐟🍟

A huge thank you to Sue for bringing so much energy, enthusiasm, and joy every single week. Your sessions always leave us smiling, singing, and looking forward to the next one. We can't wait to do it all again next Friday!

What a fantastic afternoon with Andy! 🎶

Andy was back with us again, entertaining everyone with his wonderful singing and guitar playing. As always, he had us all joining in – whether it was dancing around the room or having a little boogie from the comfort of our chairs! There was plenty of singing along, smiling, and laughter.

One of the things we love most about Andy's sessions is that he doesn't just perform the songs – he also shares the stories and history behind them. It's always so interesting, and we often learn something new (and sometimes quite surprising!) about the music we all know and love.

A huge thank you, Andy, for another brilliant afternoon of music, memories, and fun. We can't wait to welcome you back for your next session!

Monday Morning Fun with Josh!

What a fantastic way to start the week! We were so pleased to welcome Josh back for another morning of cricket and games, and as always, he had everyone smiling from start to finish.

We kicked things off with some gentle throwing and catching using different-sized balls before moving on to practising our batting skills. There were some brilliant hits and plenty of encouragement all around!

Next, Josh switched things up with a hoop challenge, where we had to bounce the balls into the hoops. Just when we thought we'd mastered that, out came the bean bags! We split into the 🔴 Red Team and 🔵 Blue Team and the competition was on. The aim was to throw the bean bags into the matching coloured hoops.

The Red Team came flying out of the blocks and looked set for victory, but the Blue Team made an incredible comeback in the final rounds, leaving us with a well-deserved draw! 👏

There was so much laughter, cheering, friendly banter and teamwork throughout the session. It's wonderful t o see everyone getting involved, supporting one another and having so much fun together.

Saturday Fun with Ashleigh!

Saturday morning was full of smiles, laughter, and just a little bit of friendly chaos thanks to our wonderful volunteer, Ashleigh! 😊

We kicked things off with a fun game using cones and hoops, where the challenge was to get your hoop over the cone. It sounds easy... but there were plenty of "Ooohhh!", "Nearly!" moments, lots of cheering, and even more laughter! 😄 Everyone had a turn, and we made sure it was fair by all starting from the same spot (or as close as possible!).

The best part? Even our spectators couldn't resist joining in! We absolutely love moments like these, when everyone gets caught up in the fun, supports one another, and shares lots of laughs together. Those are the moments that make Brunswick House so special.

A huge thank you to Ashleigh for bringing so much energy and fun to our Saturday morning! 🌟

In the afternoon, we enjoyed a quieter time together, looking back at everything we've been up to throughout July. What an incredible month it's been, filled with laughter, friendship, new experiences, and so many wonderful memories. ❤️

Friday? More like FUNday! 🎤🥊

We kicked the morning off with another fantastic boxing session with Holly, and what a workout it was! 💪 We started with a warm-up before moving straight onto the pads, practising different punch sequences. We began with the basics and gradually built up to more challenging combinations, with plenty of laughs and encouragement along the way.

Just when we thought we'd mastered it, Holly switched things up by introducing colour sequences to keep us on our toes! 🥊🟥🟦 It certainly kept our minds and bodies working, and everyone did an amazing job. We finished with a well-earned cool-down and a few moments to relax before enjoying everyone's favourite... Fish Friday for lunch! 🐟🍽️

After lunch, it was time to welcome back the wonderful Chris for an afternoon of music. 🎶 Chris always makes every resident feel special, taking the time to sing with each person individually, encouraging everyone to join in and creating so many lovely moments.

And of course, it wouldn't be a music afternoon without our dancing duo! 💃🕺 Our Dancing King David and Dancing Queen Georgina were soon up on their feet, showing off their moves and getting everyone smiling. There was plenty of singing, dancing and laughter, making it the perfect end to another fantastic day here at Brunswick House.

What a fantastic start to the week we've had at Brunswick House! 🌞

This week we were delighted to welcome the wonderful team from Stroud Guidepost, with the lovely Fergus joining us for a very special visit.

We kicked things off with our very first Tai Chi session. Everyone took it seriously, followed Fergus's gentle guidance and really enjoyed learning something new. This is only the beginning - before you know it, you'll find us all out in the garden at sunrise perfecting our Tai Chi moves!

After our workout, Fergus picked up his trusty guitar and treated us to some of our favourite songs. The room was filled with singing, toe-tapping, smiles and laughter as everyone joined in. Sometimes it's the simple moments like these that bring the biggest smiles.

Once we'd sung our hearts out, Fergus took his guitar around the home for some one-to-one visits with residents in their rooms. These personal sessions were truly heartwarming, with smiles stretching from ear to ear. It felt as though each resident was being serenaded with their very own private concert, making the experience extra special.

As if that wasn't enough excitement for one day, we also welcomed back the lovely Amanda to entertain us. As always, she was absolutely fantastic! She had us all up dancing, singing along and having the best time. In fact, we were having so much fun that we completely forgot to take any photos! 📸😂 We can promise you there were plenty of smiles, lots of laughter and some impressive dance moves on display.

A huge thank you to Fergus and Amanda for bringing so much happiness to our residents. Days like these are what Brunswick House is all about, and we can't wait to welcome you both back again soon!

What a fantastic way to finish off the week at Brunswick House! 💃🎶

We rounded off the week with our lovely work experience student, Sithuki, joining us for one of our favourite sessions with the wonderful Sue and her Music & Movement.

As always, it was full of fun from start to finish! We danced, we sang, we played balloon tennis, then danced some more... and, of course, sang some more!

Sue always brings so much energy into the room, and it's impossible not to join in. Residents, staff, and even our visitors get caught up in the fun! A special mention has to go to Phyllis' son, Steve, who always seems to get roped into the activities. Bless him, he never says no and always joins in with a smile – it's so lovely to see and everyone really appreciates it. 😊

After a delicious lunch, Morgan and Sithuki spent some quality time with our newest resident, Margaret, enjoying a friendly game of Scrabble. Margaret loves a game of Scrabble, and it was a wonderful way to help her feel even more at home and get to know everyone a little better. ❤️

Finally, we'd like to say a huge thank you to Sithuki for spending the week with us. It has been an absolute pleasure having you at Brunswick House. We hope you've enjoyed your time with us as much as we've enjoyed having you, and we wish you every success for the future. Good luck – we're sure you'll do amazing things!
