World Cup excitement is in the air!

Whether it’s keeping an eye on the scores, chatting about the teams, or even staying up a little later for the big games, we know the World Cup always brings plenty of conversation and excitement.

For many of our residents, football tournaments bring back wonderful memories too — from England’s famous 1966 win, to Maradona’s unforgettable moments in 1986, Gazza’s tears at Italia 90, Beckham’s redemption against Argentina in 2002, and all those dramatic penalty shootouts that had the whole country watching through their fingers!

It’s always lovely to hear those stories, share memories and enjoy the atmosphere together. Some of our residents are football fans through and through, while others simply enjoy being part of the fun.

What’s your predictions? We’re asking our residents what they think. 🏆

A little letter, a lot of answers! 💭

Our residents at Parton House Care Home enjoyed a fun word association game, where they had to think of as many words, animals and places as they could beginning with the letter C.

From cats and cakes to countries, colours and plenty of creative answers, it was a lovely activity that got everyone thinking, chatting and laughing along the way.

Activities like this are great for encouraging memory, conversation and confidence — and it’s always wonderful to see the different answers our residents come up with. 💛

Who doesn’t love a little pamper session? 💅

Our residents enjoyed a lovely manicure afternoon, and it wasn’t just the ladies getting involved — the gents were more than happy to enjoy a bit of nail care too!

It was a really nice chance to relax, have a chat, and enjoy some one-to-one time with our team. Sometimes it’s the small things, like freshly done nails and a good conversation, that make the biggest difference to the day.

A cosy afternoon indoors...

With the weather giving us a very typical end-of-spring day, we decided to stay warm and dry inside and enjoy a relaxing jigsaw puzzle together.

Jigsaws are a lovely way to spend time, encouraging focus, patience and conversation as each piece slowly finds its place.

Sometimes the simplest activities make for the nicest afternoons.

A colourful afternoon at Parton House Care Home 🌈

Our residents enjoyed using ribbon batons to make beautiful visual patterns in the air, creating swirls, shapes and plenty of movement.

It was a lovely activity that encouraged gentle exercise, coordination and creativity, while also bringing lots of smiles and conversation along the way.

Simple activities like this can be so enjoyable, and it was wonderful to see everyone getting involved and making their own colourful designs. 💛

Aiming, concentrating and celebrating every successful shot! 🎯

Our residents had a brilliant time taking part in a hoop-over-the-cups game. It may look simple, but this activity took plenty of focus, hand-eye coordination and a steady hand!

There was lots of encouragement, laughter and friendly competition throughout, with everyone giving it their best go. Activities like this are a great way to keep the mind active, support movement and, most importantly, enjoy time together.
Well done to everyone who joined in — fantastic effort all round! 💙

Bean bags at the ready! 🎯

Our residents enjoyed a brilliant afternoon of friendly competition with a fun game of skill and aim.

The challenge was simple — knock as many cups out of the circle as possible using the bean bags… but as you can see, it definitely brought out everyone’s competitive side! There were plenty of laughs, lots of encouragement, and some very impressive throws along the way.

Activities like this are a lovely way to keep residents active, engaged, and enjoying time together — and it’s always wonderful to see so many smiles in the room.

So, the big question is… how many cups do you think you could knock out? 👀

🍦 What’s your favourite ice cream flavour?

With plenty of ice creams planned at Parton House, we thought it was only right to ask our residents the very important question… what flavour would you choose?

We had some lovely answers, from classic vanilla and strawberry to mint choc chip, Neapolitan, and even rum and raisin!

Sometimes it’s the simple things that bring the biggest smiles — and we think ice cream is definitely one of them. 💛

Now the only question is… which flavour would you pick?
