🌟 Celebrating life’s proudest achievements at Parton House...

We recently asked residents a thoughtful question: “What is your biggest achievement in life?”

The answers offered a wonderful glimpse into the lives, experiences and memories of those who call Parton House home. Residents spoke proudly about raising their children, meeting and marrying the love of their life, training as a nurse, becoming a warrant officer in the Air Force, living abroad in Singapore and Hong Kong, and reaching later life in good health.

It was a lovely opportunity to reflect, share stories and learn even more about the remarkable people within our home. Every answer was different, but each represented a life filled with dedication, adventure, love and achievement.

What would you say has been your proudest achievement?

📅 A busy September ahead at Parton House!

Our September activities calendar is packed with plenty of variety, giving residents lots of opportunities to stay active, creative and connected.

The month includes music and movement with Sue, Mindsong singalongs, G-Fitness, Tai Chi and seated yoga, alongside ball games, skittles, darts and parachute activities.

There will also be karaoke, bingo, quizzes, puzzles, card games, arts and crafts, baking and sensory challenges—including guessing foods by taste alone!

For those who prefer a little relaxation, our regular hairdressing, nail care and hand massage sessions will continue too. We’ll also be celebrating Ann and Mary’s birthdays and sharing memories for our International Day of Friendship activity.

There really is something for everyone.

🍌 Banana splits...

Residents rolled up their sleeves for a delicious afternoon of making their own banana splits. With bananas and ice cream ready, the finishing touch was a generous helping of chocolate sauce!

It was lovely to see everyone getting involved in preparing their desserts before sitting back to enjoy the results. Sometimes the simplest activities bring the biggest smiles — especially when chocolate is involved!

What would be your perfect banana split topping?

🎯 A Little Friendly Competition...

Our residents recently enjoyed a chair-based games session, with plenty of concentration, encouragement and a healthy dose of friendly competition along the way!

Using colourful rings and cones, everyone had the chance to test their aim and coordination while enjoying some gentle movement from the comfort of their chairs. Activities like this are simple, accessible and a great way to encourage mobility, hand-eye coordination and social interaction.

There were a few determined faces when it came to landing those rings in the right place, followed by plenty of smiles when they did! 😊

🌒 Solar Eclipse Tonight...

This evening, residents and teams across Cedar Trust Care Homes will have the opportunity to experience one of nature’s most fascinating sights – a partial solar eclipse.

For Gloucester, the eclipse is expected to begin at approximately 6:16pm, reach its maximum at around 7:13pm, and finish at approximately 8:06pm.

Of course, enjoying the occasion safely is our priority. Anyone watching should never look directly at the Sun, even during the eclipse. Where residents wish to view it, our teams will support them to do so safely using suitable eclipse viewers or an indirect viewing method. Ordinary sunglasses are not safe for looking directly at the Sun.

It should make for a memorable evening and hopefully the Gloucestershire skies will give us a good view! 🌞🌒

We’d love to know – will you be watching tonight?
