Simon who lives in one of our supported living schemes in Stoke on Trent has been developing the communal garden.

He has already placed borders, soil and plants and is looking to develop further with a grant from his housing provider and the Aspirations ECO project. He has some great ideas such as a water feature, water butt and summer house.

I can’t wait to visit again later in August to see how the garden is coming along.

Well done Simon great work!

July is Disability Pride Month and an important moment for disabled people to come together as a community, share experiences and start conversations. It’s a celebration of the creativity, resilience, and achievements of disabled people and a time for embracing disability identity and the contributions made by disabled people positively. Plus challenging the negative attitudes that hold disabled people back.

We celebrate today by sharing The Disability Pride Flag – which represents the experiences and needs within the disabled community:
Red - Physical impairments and conditions.
Gold – Neurodiversity.
White - Non-visible and undiagnosed impairments and conditions.
Blue - Emotional and psychiatric conditions, including mental health, anxiety and depression.
Green - Hearing impaired, vision impaired, audio processing and all other sensory impairments and conditions.
Charcoal - represents people who have experienced ableism, and highlights protesting against this.

July is ‘Good Care Month’ and celebrates the dedicated professionals working across the social care sector. The initiative highlights the vital contributions of carers – both paid and unpaid – who provide support to vulnerable individuals across communities. More than just recognition, Good Care Month also aims to raise the profile of care as a rewarding and essential career path. So, today we wanted to say a HUGE THANK YOU to all our staff for your hard work, dedication and compassion in supporting the people we support and your contribution to care and our community! And, if you are considering a career in care, take this as your sign and check out our vacancies today…

Justin would like to share some of the photos that were taken on his recent trip to Butlins in Bognor Regis. He spent 4 nights there with two of his support workers, they all had lots of fun…. including watching numerous shows, swimming, tech putt, and Digi darts. The walk into the local town was windy but the rain held off!! Which pleased us all 😊

We are delighted to share that Reuben has received an award from college for successfully completing his first-year Art course. Reuben was invited to an awards ceremony, where he was presented with a plaque and certificate in recognition of his efforts and achievements at college. In addition to this accomplishment, Reuben also passed his travel training this year and has been independently travelling to and from college since May. Congratulations to Reuben on these fantastic achievements. We are all very proud for his hard work and dedication.

Helen started her morning off going shopping with Support Worker, Shannon, for new house decor to re decorate Helen's lounge and also purchasing new sofas. Helen enjoyed testing out new sofas and choosing the ones she wanted. In the afternoon Helen took advantage of the nice day meeting up with another person we support, Michael, from another house and Support Worker, Louise. First going for a cheeky ice cream and ending with a nice walk to the seafront. Helen really enjoyed her day!
