As we get older life becomes a flurry of doing stuff life runs away with us.

It’s important to take a beat.

We are biological beings and stress is not conducive to healthy living. I am recognising this now struggling with burnout and being an incessant people pleaser and really suffering if I feel like I let anyone down. It is amplified by a plethora of hormones.

I am taking one week in every 4 off to recharge recuperate and take care of my self. It has taken 3 months to start even feeling near normal. I am being mindful in preparing and eating nutritious food. I am moving mindfully enjoying the ebb and the flow of my body. How my nervous system responds. The earlier we learn how to nourish our nervous system the easier life will be. Those habits stacking them mindfully so the teeth brushing achieves so much more. The chopping the washing becomes a mindful exercise and not a laborious task.

Take care of yourselves. No one else is responsible for it.

This was a pivotal moment for me:

A pelvic health physio told me that my tight glutes had nothing to do with my pelvic floor symptoms. After I left I thought about this: my pelvic floor muscles are attached to my pelvis (the pelvic bone, made up of three parts). My glute muscles are also attached to my pelvis. Muscles pull on bone, that’s their job. My glutes pulling on my pelvis are subtly adjusting my pelvis into a different position. My pelvic floor muscles have no choice but to adjust to accommodate that new position, or to fight the new position. My pelvic floor muscles have no choice but to be affected by the action of my glutes.

At the time I couldn’t tell you how my pelvic floor muscles were affected, or why that would make a difference, but now I can give you a bigger picture.

Our culture spent centuries dissecting the body into separate parts, and has since begun to look at how those separate parts fit back together.

Today when working with other parts of the body physios, osteos, physical therapists talk about muscle chains, the transfer of force from one muscle to the next, through sheets of fascia, from one part of the body and into another. However many still focus on the pelvic floor as a separate entity.

Our pelvic floor muscles are an integrated part of your body, and are integral to the chains of muscles running through your body from toe to head.

When you work with me we will look at the pelvic floor as part of our integrated systm of muscle chains. We will explore the use of hypopressives, massage, and exercises to recalibrate your system to allow for optimal pelvic health.

Hypopressives and Pelvic Health in the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley

Torticollis. Normally sorts its self after a few days…. When it becomes problematic what do you do? We need to allow tone to reduce (the naughty but nice when it nips) then we need to rebalance the frame. The neck will nip (motor adaptation) when the motor output from the arms is not working effectively.

Remember the nervous system work needs to be achieved regularly to effect change. To improve it also needs to be progressive. Too much we regress. We can only move and achieve what the nervous system allows us too. Too much too soon we over do it to little it takes longer.

This is a moment of transition in the world and in our lives, light levels change what is happening outside, as well as what is happening inside, our energy levels, our sense of action, and more.

What is the change, the action, the transition that you would like in your life moving forward?

My intention will be the same this year as it was last year. I have made good developments towards my goal. Yesterday there was a significant moment that tested that development. I am pleased with how I did, I know I can improve, and in reflecting on that moment I am heartened by the love which resides despite the difficulty. The journey towards that love has not been an easy one, it has required time, energy, dedication, and a lot of meeting of difficult feelings. It is so worth it. The feelings of lightness and the warmth that are freed as a result are magical.
