Have you ever had to change the way you practise yoga?

I’ve just published a new blog post sharing Kate’s yoga journey, from Hatha yoga to chair yoga.

She had a year away from yoga, came back, and eventually discovered that chair yoga was just as rewarding for her as the mat-based class.

I particularly love her words, “I have graduated to chair yoga”. And I think there’s something really important in that, sometimes changing how we practise isn’t giving up, it’s simply finding what works for our body now.

It’s a lovely, honest story, and I think many of you will recognise a little bit of yourselves in it.

🌿 Healthy Ageing Coffee Break #6

Fact: Laughter really is good for your body as well as your mood

It might sound simple, but laughter has real physical benefits.

When we laugh, stress hormones decrease and feel-good chemicals increase. This helps the body relax, lowers muscle tension, and can even make movement feel easier.

Laughter also supports social connection, which is strongly linked to healthier ageing and overall wellbeing.

So yes, enjoying yourself absolutely counts as part of a healthy lifestyle.

What’s something that always makes you smile or laugh?

If you’d like a gentle way to move and unwind, I’ve linked a couple of videos below.

Until next week's Healthy Ageing Coffee Break, take good care of yourself. ☕🌿

I’m 66—practise with me and stay strong!
As a 66-year-old yoga teacher, I have designed this Yoga for Seniors over 60 like me to help you maintain vital joint mobility and build lasting leg strength. This practice is my personal go-to for healthy ageing, combining traditional Hatha yoga with movements that lubricate the joints and keep the body supple. 🧘‍♀️✨

Hi, everyone! I am so pleased you have found my page. This short video is a 12-second glimpse into a brand-new full-length practice I have just shared.

As we age, keeping our legs strong is the absolute key to maintaining our balance, confidence, and independence. Equally, focusing on joint lubrication helps us to move more freely and ease that common morning stiffness in the hips, shoulders, and knees. I believe that yoga should be accessible to everyone, and this routine is designed to be steady, nourishing, and effective for our bodies.
👇 I HAVE POSTED THE LINK TO THE FULL 20-MINUTE PRACTICE IN THE FIRST COMMENT BELOW!
I now have over 900 videos available on my YouTube channel, ranging from gentle chair yoga to traditional Hatha sessions. It would mean the world to me if you could head over and click the subscribe button. Did you know that over 50% of my regular viewers aren't subscribed yet? Subscribing is completely free, and it helps me immensely in reaching more seniors who want to stay mobile and strong.

🌿 Healthy Ageing Coffee Break #5

Myth: Bone loss means you should avoid exercise

It’s a really common worry that fragile bones need complete rest, but the science tells a different story.

Bones respond to gentle stress, a bit like muscles do. Weight-bearing movement and light resistance exercise can actually help maintain bone strength and reduce the risk of falls by improving balance and muscle support.

The important part is choosing safe, appropriate movement for your body and any medical guidance you’ve been given.

Avoiding movement completely is usually not helpful, but moving wisely can make a real difference.

Have you found certain movements help you feel more confident and steady?

If you’d like to try something gentle, I’ve linked a couple of suitable practices below.

🌿 Healthy Ageing Coffee Break #4

Fact: Every bit of movement counts more than you think

We often assume exercise has to be long or intense to be useful, but research shows the opposite is true.

Short bursts of movement throughout the day can improve circulation, support heart health, and help regulate blood sugar. Even a few minutes of stretching, walking around the house, or gentle yoga can reduce the effects of sitting for long periods.

The key is consistency, not perfection. Your body responds to what you do regularly, not occasionally.

What’s one small way you like to break up sitting time during the day?

If you’d like to explore this a little more, I’ve linked a couple of gentle routines below.

Day 2 is now live! 🪑✨
In today's session of 7 days of gentle chair yoga for seniors, we are focusing on loosening the spine and shoulders, opening the chest, and improving our posture.

My "real yoga" approach is all about enjoying the movement and looking after ourselves. There is no pressure to get every move right; it’s simply about moving in a way that feels good for your body.

If you missed yesterday, you can start with Day 1 and move straight onto today's practice.
Let me know in the comments how your shoulders feel after this one! Links to both days in the comments👇

The journey has begun! 🧘‍♀️✨
I shared Day 1 of my new programme, 7 days of gentle chair yoga for seniors, yesterday and it has been wonderful to see so many of you joining in. If you haven't had a chance to start yet, you can catch up now before Day 2 goes live today at 3pm!

Day 1 is all about gently awakening the body and improving your posture. It’s just 12 minutes long and focuses on feeling good rather than being perfect.
Catch up with Day 1 link in comments: 🎥

I’ll see you at 3pm for our next session where we’ll be loosening the spine and shoulders! 🕒

Hello everyone! 🙏
Are you short on time but in need of a good stretch?
I’ve just uploaded a new 5-minute Hatha Yoga video featuring a lovely Moon Sequence I found in one of my favourite books. It’s a bit different from the usual flows, and although it’s short, it’s brilliant for opening up the chest and releasing tension in the spine.

A little request: I’ve noticed that over 60% of people who watch my channel aren’t subscribed! If you enjoy my videos, please do hit that subscribe button—it’s completely free and helps my channel more than you know.

Let me know what you think of this unique sequence in the comments! 👇
