I say at the start of each service that I appreciate the honour bestowed upon me by families to share their memories of their loved ones. It is always a privilege and never more so than yesterday when we bade ‘Fair winds’ to Derek who was a loyal servant to his Queen, country and most importantly, his family. Derek was a gentleman who enhanced the lives of everyone he met and he should be proud of his legacy.
Derek was helped on his final journey by Jane and her team from COOP Funeralcare and led into the Chapel at Portchester by Alex & Chris who were immaculately turned out with their RNA standards. Of course, Mike our Royal Marines Bandsman brought the curtain down with a flawless rendition of The Last Post. It was nothing less than this gentleman deserved. Bravo Zulu Chief 🫡⚓️🥃

It was too soon Jake…way too soon. I’m glad that I knew you and got to work with you occasionally. Those who criticise the Police must have never met this man. Hard when he had to be but caring and kind. A gentle man who wanted to make a difference and help others. Hopefully, there’s a posh seat somewhere for you now 🫡🥃

We’ve bought ourselves an alarm clock. Alexa is her name.
She talks to us in cheery tones,
Every day and night the same.
This morning, she cheerfully announced “it’s 5:45”
And we emerged slowly from our bed,
It was dark and cold, but no time to skive,
“It’s time for gym” she said.

Well, thanks Alexa. Wanted to pull the duvet tighter but, up with the larks and listening to the world awakening. Nodded to the usual early morning gym goers, getting it done before their day starts and as always, felt better when we left the gym. This morning there was a full moon sat midst a clear blue sky and I said a little prayer. Just a short “Thank you” for allowing me another day to do stuff. Then home for a fresh coffee and a shower. Simple pleasures that seem more satisfying as I get older. 🙏
